Funny you should mention that. We are having record cold temps here in San Diego County, CA. Yesterday at our flying field the wind was blowing bout 10-12 mph and it was 39 degrees Fahrenheit at 8 am. I flew my AXN Floater Jet and Flyzone FW 190 for about 8 minutes each. At the end of my second flight, my fingers were literally in pain with the cold. I didn't fly again until the temp warmed up to the mid 50's around 9:30. Miserable to say the least.

Come on out to Phoenix for a ''flying vacation''. Supposed to be sunny and 70-72F this weekend!

Your kidding?? Last night I had to wait outside for my car from Valet parking and about froze. It was 24 in Henderson when I got home. Sun is out now with a bit of a breeze but it's too cold for me. I was watching some video from Canada this morning and they are flying in the snow!!! Not this old fart, I didn't move here for the cold!! We could sure use some of that 70 weather here and we aren't that far from each other. BURRRRRRRRR!!!! I got cold just watching those guys in Canada!!

G'day Guys,
We don't have trouble with cold over here, It's been too bloody hot to fly, last Saturday afternoon, it was 52 Deg C, on our front verandah, see pic.
that's about 125 Deg F, & has been over 45 everyday since.
So, I feel for you guys, but It's just as bad here, but for different reasons, I dunno which is worse, frostbite, or heat exhaustion.
Anyway, try & keep warm, & I will try & keep cool, & we will all fly again, real soon.

Cheers.

It was pretty nice here in Georgia on Sunday too. 72 degrees, a little breezy but flyable. Four of us flew all day, listened to the Atlanta Falcons between flights, ate some fresh grilled brats, no wrecks, life is good! Yes that 72 degree temp is about 20 higher than normal, but we'll take it just as we'll take that Falcon win in the last 8 seconds by the skin of our teeth!!

What Andy said/showed without the snow. With the wind chill it was at zero last night. The news reported about peoples heaters going out from over use? They don't often get run like they are this month and they are falling apart? Then they showed all the broken pipes and the poor over worked plumbers out in the cold and dark. Well, maybe not poor but they are being over worked this month. This was the talk in the locker room yesterday. There is a plastic part in our drip system that the threads strip out very easy if the water even gets cold. The part is $30.00!! It took me 5 minutes to replace it but the plumbers are getting $200.00 plus the service call. I fixed several of them for neighbors and had them buy the good insulated cover for the pipe head so none of them have frozen.
Now, will the Florida people please tell us about humidity and how big do the bugs really get???

Apparently a layer of ultra cold air has settled over SoCal according to the news this AM. It was 28 degrees Fahrenheit just before dawn here in North San Diego County. I think I am living in the Twilight Zone right about now.

Like was said earlier, it was 72 here in Atlanta this Sunday. That was an all time high for that day as far back as the records go! Normally if it gets into the 50s this time of year that is considered a warm day. But by Thursday it is back into the 30s.

It warmed up to 60 here in Ohio last Saturday so I slipped out to the field. Couldn't drive into the pits because it was so wet...water squirting out from under my shoes. 15 MPH directly across the runway. Two flights on my little Vanquish, took it home with muddy feet.
It was heaven.

I was flying off floats yesterday...we have close to 3 ft of snow on the runway...The temp was minus 1...No wind at all....You sure get good performance...The wings get lots of lift and the prop gets lots of bite because the air is dense ..I flew a Saratoga and also a Icon...The little electric really surprizes me every time I take it out...It is my first Electric and I have never been an electric fan but I am really having fun with this one...I won it at a fun fly...It scoots off the snow no problem and zips around for probably 10 mins which is about long enough for me to stand still in the snow...I really had fun...The Saratoga was a good time too after I got it started...The glow motors can be stubborn when they are cold but after you get them going they are okay...

GB : We only worry about the humidity when it gets to where we can't breath, then we go inside with the A/C . It's not all that often tho. When I was out west I had the same problem when it got over 95 + degrees .

As far as the bugs go, we just catch them and cook them up in gumbo . Actually where I live we don't have much of a problem . I do spray them a couple times a year just because. ENJOY !!! RED

Another beautiful sunny winter day in Georgia. Mid 60's, clear sky, same 4 of us few with all different airplanes today, no damage, lots of air time, ate hot wings and listened to the Falcons go down to defeat to the 49ers. Close, but no cigar! But, life is still good as I got to maiden my recently completed H-9 T-34 Mentor ARF. It sat on the shelf in my stash for 9 years and it finally made it to workbench. It's the early yellow Navy version and it flys great. Lots more great kits and ARF's in my stash waiting their turn on the workbench. Hope I get to them all before I run "out of time". The weatherman on TV just said "cold and windy tomorrow", 53 degrees and wind gusts 25-30 mph! We've been lucky so far this year with the crappy weather during the week and then fine flying weather on Sunday. Hope y'all got some stick time in this weekend too.

I spend time in the shop in the winter, you don't have to be too smart to figure that one out. Today our high was 20 degrees, wind chill 3. Summer is one day closer, I have time to go through all of my planes, maybe enough to build one. Then, I go outside, And Voila!! It's spring, and time to fly again!!!LOL

65 in Texas yesterday with 5 mph wind. It would have been downright sinful to stay inside all day. I got 2 flights in with the Kaos before it was time to pack up and go back to church.

The big cold snap moved out and it has been in the 50s and 60s again. I have been going out to fly about 10 when it is warmed up. Nice to be able to go out and still feel my fingers.

Finally the cold snap is over here in SoCal as well. It was almost 80 Fahrenheit yesterday at our field. Kinda windy in the morning. By 10 AM it was down to 1-3 mph. It picked up to around 8 mph at 1 PM. Just like the forecast said. It was uncanny how accurate it was yesteday.

Don't you just love it when you live in the north and hear from our southern friends how good the weather is there in Feb! Lets ask again in July or August!
