The AR 9210 Powersafe Receiver/Power Distribution System has an undocumented feature. It will regulate output to 7.4 VDC as well as the published 5.9 VDC. They come pre-set to 7.4 VDC. Horizon Hobby has a procedure for toggling the voltage between the two voltage settings.  I attached the procedure, which I got from HH. They are updating their information, etc.

Also, if you are using low voltage servos and other low voltage downstream components (e.g. servos etc. with an operating range not to exceed 6 VDC,) then you need to change the AR 9200/9210's output voltage to 5.9 VDC. If you have HV servos you should be O.K. at 7.4 VDC. Most of the other components out there are typically rated for 9 VDC. But, you may want to consider ensuring your other components can handle the 7.4 volts.

Overall, the flexibility this provides us is a good thing. The lesson I learned out of this is; Do not assume that output voltages are what is published.

When I got my first AR 9210, I assumed it was 6 VDC and never bothered to measure it. Then when I hooked up the telemetry, I noticed the 7.3 - 7.4 VDC, but never really worried about it because I thought the readout was an alarm setting and I was not using alarms, etc. On a new build with a second AR 9210, I noticed the 7.3 VDC and started asking questions. Dan Smith at HH took on the challenge to figure it out and did so in a couple days. HH is the "Gold Standard" for service and their products are even a bit more versatile than they know.
