My lunchbox is now stuttering and even at full is very slow after installing a brushless system. It is a 13.5 turn 540 3300 kv motor, and Team Associated's SC450BL esc. Is the combo underpowered or something? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

No - it's actually about twice the motor the van was designed for, so it should be a rocketship.

1) Did you recalibrate the ESC to your transmitter after installing it?
2) What kind of batteries are you using - the old junk NiMH packs you've been using, or did you purchase an appropriate LiPO pack when you bought the BL set-up?

Not sure how to do number 1, but yes on number 2. Its a Venom 5000 7.4v 50c; only a month or 2 old.

You have to do #1.
You always have to; otherwise how is the ESC supposed to know what the trx. is trying to tell it to do?

Look up the manual for the ESC online, I'm sure it's available in pdf form somewhere (on AE's website or some other downloadable source).

I think to do it is turn on transmitter, full throttle, turn on car, neutral, full reverse, neutral and it should beep a couple times to show its fine. Does this sound correct to anybody?

That's the normal procedure for most ESCs, but not all.

Hold full throttle, turn the car on still holding full throttle, the esc will let out a series of beeps,

Then go straight to full reverse, the esc will beep again,

then return the throttle to neutral, the esc will beep then its ready to go,

You have to do this every time you change a receiver or esc/motor
