We be flyin' Arrr new heli tonight.  It be a MCPX. She be a fine flyin' ship. She's yar, mate, she's yar.

Ok, I know that's a bit over the top, but it really is a fun little heli.
 We're graduating from "mall junk".
Only got out of control a couple of times (w/ crashes), but she kept on flying.
Got some good hovers in. Just got the RTF package w/ the dx4...
Will post vids soon.

Status: offline 		Wow, so five days in w/ this 'lil copter, and I have abused it.  Broke the canopy, the landing gear, the ( beginner)  main rotor blade, put it into the dogs water dish (dried it quick w/ the heat gun), and she is still flying. Down to my last tiny link to the rotor blades...
On the upside, I'm getting good at hovering with the tail towards me, and began to train hovering with the tail away today.
What fun. What a challenge.

Status: offline 		Congrats, sounds like your doing quite well. An mcpx is a challenge but is nice size wise to crash and get back to flying quickly. Plus crash repair prices aren't that bad either.

Definitely concentrate on the 4 basic orientations: tail in, nose in, right side, and left side. Getting these basics down to the point where you don't need to think of what corrections to make, you just make them is key for later on.

When you decide your ready to move up to a larger bird you may want to start checking into a simulator as well...will help in learning new moves without having to worry about the crash cost factor.

BTW, the first copter I bought was a Esky honey kingIII, used w/ lots of parts off Ebay. Never got it off the ground. Wasn't set up proper, Didn't have a clue how to set it up. So it sat in the case for 2+ yrs. Don't know if I should try to resurect it now that I've got the bug again, or sell it for pennies on the dollar and stick w/ the little indoor/outdoor birds.  These little c-p helis are a marvel.

I would definitely keep the Esky King III...that would probably make a perfect second bird for you once your ready to move up in size. If you have any questions for setup/maintenance etc you should look Here. This will point you in a direction for getting things working again.

Meanwhile, your mcpx really only needs 2 upgrades: a metal swash since the plastic one will eventually break the rear elevator ball in a crash and an extended boom to help with tail blow outs when you go hard on the collective (ie a flip or roll).

The swash I'm talking about is this: swash

Status: offline 		Well the copter got the wobbles...so it was grounded for awhile.
Finally got the gumption to take the servos apart for cleaning.
Was tedious. The screws on the backside were smaller than the screwdriver supplied with the copter could handle,
so I had to take a small file to it to get it to work. Lost one of the screws before I could get it to the magnet for safe keeping.
Finally got it back together, and she flies again.
 Finally starting to get  the hang of counterclockwise circles.

Great video and nice indoor flying shop...what exactly kind of shop is that?

One thing on the mcpx...the flybarless unit does not compensate for piro's, so you have to make the corrections yourself when transitioning from tail to side to nose to other side.

Congrats on taking apart the servo's and cleaning them. Really makes a big difference. Many use DeOxit but any cleaner/lubricant will do the job. I usually use a shammy towel to do any work on it as the screws don't fall to far when they fall on the shammy, keeps everything in one place.

Been thinking about the "next" copter. I'm fairly certain I'll get another mcpx, but maybe upgrade to a Dx6i

Status: offline 		Got a great afternoon flying outside today. Just surfing the breeze left to right and back. Mostly in front of me, but also behind, and mixing it up.
Crashed a few times, but nothing un repairable. Winds out of the east 4-10. Good flying.
