Status: offline 		I can't remember who actually built the K61 (I think it was K&B), but I remember that Kraft would 'give' you an engine with the purchase of certain radio systems - circa 1975.

Status: offline 		Vary rare. Only a fool would put fuel in it and run it. I think the only Kraft that is more rare is the real exhaust one.

Status: offline 		I’ve never seen that Kraft 61 variant but the standard version is still available as a RJL brand.

Yes, the RJL 61 is made in the USA. I have a number of them and in my opinion they are very well made.

Status: offline 		I had one in '84 and it was one of the sweetest running engines I remember owning. Actually had it in a helicopter, always super reliable.

Status: offline 		I was always under the impression that the Kraft 'Swirle Schnurle' never went past the prototype stage. I have only seen a couple, and have never even spoke to anyone that ran one.

Status: offline 		It never did, The pictured engine is one of the prototypes. Pretty rare but value is what someone is willing to pay for a prototype that very few know about.

Status: offline 		27 of them were built but none were sold. This was the first version of the Kraft 61. Number #001 went to Walt Schroeder, editor of Model Airplane News at the time and a good friend of Phil Kraft.
What seems to be a manual is probably only an informational sheet that was made up by Model Engine Collectors Assn. A manual for this engine was never made.
A few years ago I sent #013 to Dave Shadel for his engine collection. It was run but never flown.
This, like the final version of the engine, was designed & developed by Roger Theobald with the goal of outperforming the Webra Blackhead 61, which at the time was the best performing 61 on the market............ and it did.
