Been using this one for some time now, fits like a glove and sprays even better.

thanks. a mate of mine suggested the DeVilbiss touch up guns as well. How do you find the smaller 1mm tip? Can you fit a larger tip?

I'd be mainly spraying the entire surfaces of my warbirds. Say all the underneath in grey or uppers surfaces in dark grey prior to apply camo pattern. You get the idea.

Status: offline 		 Everything in these pictures was sprayed with the DeVillbiss gun, no tip changes. 1MM is perfict and you can cut back on fluid/air to spray small parts like the gun turret pictured below.

I've got he detail gun and I love it.  It's still working like new after quite abit of paint.  A great deal I think.

I had one of their HVLP's and did not like it the way it worked and it was heavy. I am not sure if it the same gun as their detail gun. I use a Badger 100 detail gun and really like it.

Status: offline 		Hi Pete, I sprayed my Spitty with a cheap gravity fed touch-up gun from home hardware and it was very easy to adjust and use. I think any of these things will be OK for what you want to do in the way of coverage for your model painting.
I was able to adjust it to a very fine spray and I'm sure if you muck around with paint mixture you could achieve many different results.
Save some money and get a cheapy, spend the rest on good gear.

Yeah thought about a cheapy but last cheapy I bought was junk wo will most likely lash out and buy a good one, DeVilbriss most likely. Wont be till about June as I will be moving in April and will take some time to get my workshop setup again

Status: offline 		A few bits of information about the Iwata vs the other guns mentioned. The Iwata sprays a fine enought mist that Luthiers (guitar and voilin) makers use them to spry the clears over their work. That's really good atomizing!
The second thing: you only have to buy one good gun vs the cheap ones. The cheap guns don't last.. sorry but its just the way it is.. ask the pro car painters what they use.
thirdly you can tell the difference in paint quailty on a model using a cheap vs quality gun.
just my thoughts.

Status: offline 		Bob, concur mate which is why I want a good one but which one and what spec?? Seems to be a bunch of tip sizes availabile but for spraying a model which is best?

I'm not talking about small airbrush type work here such as you would use on camoflage etc.

HI Pete
this is a good all around spray gun,, you will be able to do touch up etc
as Brad said you just need to mix ( thin ) the paint down to do your camo blend in areas

Status: offline 		I have the Harbor FRT gravity hvlp and I used it for latex and it sprays just fine,do your latex in lite coats it will dry quicker between coats.

Status: offline 		Sata is another Profession brand spray gun, made in Germany I think. Again not cheap but gives excellent results.

Latex paint is pretty easy to spray once thinned properly with just about any gun. But if you want to go to other type paints.. then cheap guns suffer.

Pete, my Iwata has the standard needle/tip size. Don't remember what it is at the moment? But I think GT put you in the right direction.

FYI I have a few Iwata air brushes as well.. good products.
