So like many of you I've been eager to see the new info on the savage octane so I've been following hpi's facebook updates, well something I've noticed around the Nurnberg booth is a larger 4x4 vehicle that is out of place.

So here are a series of photos from there facebook with this odd vehicle just out of site but defiantly resembling a savage...

So in this first picture you can see someone holding up a rather larger sized 4x4, its over by the octane banner but from the tires, body, and just pure size of the vehicle this isn't the octane but something more.

In this the second picture, in this we can see the classic mt style tires and beadlock rings holding the tire, the same were use to seeing on a 1/5th scale. (Also note the bullet mt in the window which is 1/10th scale for a size comparison.) You can also see from the first picture to now that it has a classic savage style body or more family an fg look.

This last picture is just another siting, though with this picture i think i can make out the classic baja/savage like shocks...

Thoughts, comments, call me crazy if you will but i know like most of you we have been waiting years for hpi to make a proper 1/5th scale savage.

With all the vehicles conspicuous in their absence from HPI's lineup (namely anything with a racing class), I just don't get why they are trying to reinvent the wheel with bizarre and niche products. Are HPI trying to become Traxxas? If so, it's the road to ruin, cos they will never traxxas better than traxxas, and their models in popular classes are falling way behind.

Looks like a re-badge Redcat, or who ever was the original for these. Has the same wheels / tires.

Good thinking sparky, don't know why I didn't think of the Mavericks, my LHS Sells 'em (HPI shop).

There ya go, mystery solved. It's the Maverick badged HSP.
