You're referring to a car engine in the airplane engine forum, FYI. I have had 3 Mach .26 engines, an M26SS, and two Mach 427's. Good engines, easy to tune, and are a good price. Another option is the Losi/Mach 454 (.28) which is similar to the Big Red.

I've got one in a buggy, (Hyper 7 ) and a friend had one in his After Shock...
I agree with 1QwkSport...seem to hold a tune well...strong runners...good value for the $ IMO...

+1.

The Mach .26 and M26SS are 3-port engines and the Mach 427 and Losi 454 are 6 port engines.

My SH .28 p6 exploded view lists the head button as the "burn room".

The original Mach .26 with blue cooling head was definately a 6 port engine, I still have the sleeve from it
And it was a very very fast and reliable engine, revving sky high.

They must have come both ways then. AFAIK, the M26SS replaced the blue head Mach .26. The Teal headed Mach 427 is the high compression version of the orange head Mach 427. The M26SS is a high compression engine too.

Nonetheless, SH engines are similar in quality to Thunder Tiger IMO. I have had few problems with any of my SH based engines.

Thanks guys for all your help! I did not mean to hi jack a airplane post "my bad". I did buy a Dynamite Mach .26 engine. The specs are

5 + 1 port sleeve

2.75 bhp @ 30,000 rpm

Also bought the turbo head and turbo glow plug kit and installed it on the engine. The Mach .26 engine was bought to replace the .18 engine in my 10th scale redcat Tornado S30 buggy. Less than 5 lbs wet weight, and maybe with the upgrade kit I have right at 3 hp? A wicked idle, unbelievably F A S T, will spin the wheels off the rims, and bend rear axles. I did not check the motor mounts and destroyed 1st gear sprocket on the two speed transmission. Holds up good, no parts bending or breaking since I'm being smooth on and off the throttle. All the best  Arless

I just received an SH26/Losi M26SS today to install in a stretched modded Tmaxx. I should have it installed this week.

The M26SS engine benefits from doing fang cuts in the transfer and boost ports. I ran a gallon through mine and did the fangs on the boost/transfer ports and it woke that engine up immensely. I did not change the timing of the ports.

It's a strong engine.

Its a customers truck so I will not be doing any internal mods and will only run it enough to get him on the road.

I ordered a red head engine the mach 2 .28 , plus a few parts needed to change it over to a 10th scale exceed forza with the wimpy vx.18cxp engine. I am in the process of mocking up the chassis so I can get the motor mounts to line up correctly. New high performance servos, plus a throttle arm off a 8th scale buggy with a slide carb to mount on my big red engine. A new center mount transmission complete. Plus some VP 20% sport fuel, seems to work really good in both my engines. Replaced a bent axial. I'll be using stock SB motor mounts the chassis engine mounts will need to be drilled to accept. I orderd a aluminum clutch and mini flywheel used my SB clutch bell.. plus more nips and bobs. I'll post some pic once I get it going. Outta be insane fast, under five pounds and 3.4 bhp at 34000 rpm. Can't weight, can't weight.

All the best Arless
