Hey guys, What would you do if someone in your country arranged a jet meeting / fun fly, and told just one local pilot he will not be allowed to enter the field for personal reasons of the orginizer ? and then set a guard at the entrance to the field in order to prevent this one guy from entering all weekend long ? If this happend in your home, in your hobby - What would you do if you were him ?

This is sad if it happened and would make me wonder what the rest of the story behind such actions is.

Does he actually the the authority prevent the person from entering the grounds ? Is the organizer have the authority under the insurance provisions to prevent someone from flying ? I hate junk like this...Makes the hobby look bad

No insurance issues as insurance is not required here (wish it was) - and there are no legal issues what so ever. just one guy orginizing a jet meeting event in a field, while knowing the field operator, and having his guard only authorize who ever he wants in.edited

It did happen, for personal reasons solely. i personally feel this is no way to behave to anyone ever, and especially not in the scope of our wonderful hobby. so was wondering what others feel about this as well.

BUT. I'd have to know a lot more about a situation like this before I'd have an opinion. It's never black and white. As a rule however I'd have to say that it's a pretty bad precedent in general (not to mention legally risky for the excluding parties) to attempt political exclusion against someone. But again, if there are legal reasons that person "B" cannot be by person "A" and person "A" organized a rally, then I guess person "B" is out of luck. But if "A" and "B" are squabbling then tough cookies to person "A" 's ego. Preson "B" can not be politically shunned under the auspices of a larger organization (say, AMA), unless discriminatory practices can be ethically and legally upheld (as likely as snowballs becoming magically manifested in a pottery kiln on high blast heat).

People do what people do. Sometimes there's no explaining it. The simplest answer, if you didn't like it, would be to just not attend. If enough people agreed with your point and did the same, the problem would take care of itself. David S

I think that if this happened stateside that the other flyers involved would have a little chat with the organizer or would hope they would. Like you, I feel that this is very sad indeed.

I was expressing my opinion in a politically correct way.

I have to agree with Ravivos. Do you think its fair for side A to prevent side B from flying with all the friends just because side A doesnt like side B personally for what ever reasons ?

Not fair, even without listening to the other side. It's a major event and if you are legal ( have a jet waiver, if one is needed in Israel ) there is no way in h$&@ you should pinpoint who you want in and who you don't. Here in the US of A is called discrimination and is illegal

If the guy being banned is truly the good guy you say he is, I would think some of his flying buddies would make a concerted effort to let the event co-ordinator know that they will not attend and will persuade others to do the same and make the event a non-event. Marty
