My day for problems,9C that goes full throttle on shut off.I know have to deal with the fail safe but manual says go to FS but my radio seems to have no such site,Have delt with this in past on the 9C and handled it but sure can't do anything on this Radio but my other radios are 9c this is a 9C super but should be the same?I know I had this happen on electrics and not nice but found out not nice in a dive with a glow engine either!Reached for the elevator trim and instead hit the shut off!Ouch!!Manual refers to go to advance in the setup indicates there should be a fail-safe setting there but nothing looks like that on my radio!!Thanks

It would help to know what receiver you're using.

Fail safe is only available in PCM mode.

If you're using a 2.4Ghz conversion module in the 9C, then follow the directions for setting the throttle F/S that applies to the 2.4Ghz system you're using. With a Futaba or Spektrum 2.4Ghz conversion module, just perform a re-bind or re-link of the receiver, making sure the throttle is in the fully closed position when you do it.

OK!I messed up dug deeper into my paperwork! This happens to be a 9C super whatever may mean.As mentioned in previous post I am using a TM-8 module on 2.4.Read the instructions and sort of followed them and all is well. This happened to be one of my orange HK receivers. All I had to do was hold the little binding button and turn on receiver with the throttle at idle!Simple but the referral to the FS in the manual threw me.Those receivers bind so nice but are getting to be more expensive seems every time I look they have gone up a few dollars but still lot cheaper than Futaba and very reliable!!Sorry to bother everyone guess should always read instructions first!!

My question would be .... why would you ever turn the transmitter off before you turn off the receiver?

People sometimes do things without thinking. Last year, we had a very experienced flier retrieve his electric powered from the runway and returned it to the bench but immediately got into a conversation about something. He lost his concentration and turned his TX off before disconnecting the battery within the plane. It went full throttle, got his hand and fortunately wasn't too serious.

Point is of course that the systems should set up so that when we do things without thinking... the consequences will be minimal.

When setting up a new model, that's the very first thing you should do. Confirm that the throttle F/S is set correctly, by turning of the Tx.
When I botch a landing, and overrun into the rough, killing the engine. I certainly do turn off the Tx and lay it in its case before starting the walk of shame
With a properly set throttle F/S on a 2.4Ghz system, one could make a case that turning off the Tx is safer than leaving it on, even with an electric powered model, especially if one doesn't have a throttle lock mix setup on their radio.

You make some very good points in your response but the tone of the OP's original post seemed to indicate it was a normal practice in daily use. At least that's the way I interpreted it.

I think the OP said the problem reared its head when he reached to trim the elevator and inadvertently got the power switch.
