I've been reading some wiring questions and people are saying to cut the red wire on the y harness coming from 1 esc thus disabling that esc's BEC to not overload the receiver or servo. Makes it so your cutting a wire on a $3 y harness instead of a $150 esc. Makes sense. What doesn't make sense to me is, if doing so, wouldn't that be basically disabling the entire esc from the diagram?

I'm building a truck with 2 esc, 2 motors, 1 receiver, 1 servo, 2 batteries. I'd like 1 switch wired to both esc's so when I turn the truck on, everything powers up exactly the same. Can anyone give me clarification or a diagram?

BTW I already have plenty of single brushless systems in multiple vehicles so I don't need or want that "1 system is plenty".

the problem is u cant have two BEC's working on the same curcit.
a rc car only needs 1 BEC, so u dissable one of them
it will still have a functioning BEC from the one that has not been disabed to run the servos and reciever

I dont recommend cuting the wire...

All u need to do back out the red wire from the connector on one of the ESC. then tape it up.

think of the BEC as a power point for the servos and receiver, it only needs to be pluged into one powerpoint. and u disable the other power point so that the power points are not connected anymore

Ok got it. I guess I just figured that if I disabled the red wire I would disable esc function also. But, the red and black are just bec power?

The red wire is power, black is a common earth ans the white is singnal wire
So we back out the red wire to disable the BEC, but we leave the earth, because its a common earth that the signal uses, and we leave the signal wire

here hope this helps

in the pic below U can see the 3 little legs that hold the terminals in the connector, all u need to do is lift the leg with a pin, and pull that wire out the back of the connector
it wont require much force once the leg is lifted up so be gental

Absolutely helps thank you!

What are your thoughts on the on/off switch?

What do you think about wiring the batteries together also so the current draw would be the same for each pack?

hummm on off switched... i hate them, ive had a few fail in the past years

I would problary leave them allways on, and only use the switch's only for programing.
keep them for now, but use the battery's as the switch, pluged in=on, unplug to turn off

Definatly link the batteries. u want them to be discharging equially, if they were sepperate the rear ESC battery would discharge faster, and cause a big input voltage differance from ESC to ESC.

Well, I don't want to say exactly what I'm building, but a friend and i are putting to a rig together to attempt to break a record. So far we have the truck completely rebuilt with new bearings, rebuilt differentials, wheels and tires and 2 Tekin RX8's.
