Hi
About 2 weeks ago, I thought instead of going outside a shovelling, I could just have my RC 4x4 do it. So I set out to make a plow. I built a main blade and added some pivot joints, and arms. I made everything from 18 gauge sheet metal. This is how it turned out.

My first plow job. Keep in mind it's a little crude because I didn't have a 3ch to hook up an extra servo to lift the plow, and still don't.

Well, after that run, just about every peice of metal bent.

SO, I MADE ONE LAST ATTEPT TO GET IT TO WORK!!

I used 1/8" thick L-shape braces, reformed the plow, used to 1/4" x 3/8" aluminum bars to form a Super Duty frame, I used the same aluminum bars to re-do the the pivoting joints, I added a threaded rod on top for adjustability, and also I added open-sided ball bearings for some wheels to keep the plow a certain distance from the ground. (The open balls bearings are one of very few on earth, and are some of the rarest)

Finished product without body, with the body, and then the underdside. I think it'll hold up really well, I'll try it here in a few minutes when my battery is fully cooled down. I wish instead of drilling a slot out in my body for it to fit over the top rod, I have just made a slit that wouldn't have been so noticable.

not bad I've seen very few snow plow RC's

one guys who's snow plow did an excellent job I think weighed his down by a lot in the front. I remember he used a TXT-1 for his I had plans to do similar with a savage, but honestly with how pathetic the snows been the past few years by me even having an RC to run in the snow has been a waste(hell snowed last thursday, was like 44 friday, and rained all day today washing it all away)

not bad
the "V" is the smart way to do it for rc's. since they are not heavy, they need to push the snow to the side and not just in from of them as it will quickly build up to much and stop the truck.
how does the TL-01 holdup to that vxl system?

Dont know if this helps, but ive had 2 Tl01b up and going with ezrun 35a combos, the main issue I found was the Diff out put cups are very easy to strip, esspically the splines on HBX bevel diff gears. IMO the tamiya gears are stronger. Ive allso tryed a oneway diff in the front and a manta ray ball diff in the rear. Both dident last long at all, the oneway bearings wore out and the ball diff striped out the splines on the output cups and diffassembly.

At the moment im finding the strongest diffs are the stock Tamiya unit.

but im currently testing out a TT01 spool with the slotted diff cups rather than splined... ill let ya know if it works and is stronger

Pretty clever, DH. I'm impressed it did as much as it did on your deck.
