Just picked this up today. Was told it is a 5 year old brand new never flown Raptor 30 V1. Came with a brand new OS Max .32. Has all brand new Hitec Hs-425bb servos. This is my first chopper. Can anyone confirm it is a V1?

From what I have read the starter shaft and clutch are smaller on the V1 and the tail grips are different. I have a V2 and haven't seen a V1. You can google the difference between the v1 and v2. There is some good info out there.

I will do some checking on it as I am going to buy some metal upgrade parts. Did I do good paying $300.00 for it?

Have to buy a new 2,200mah receiver pack. Using a 5+ year old Hitec optic 6 for transmitter. Was going to us my 12 year old JR 10SX II but it will only do aircraft and not helis like my Optic 6. Using a Futaba FP-R127F receiver. I know older radio gear but the radio gears age matches the age of the chopper. Still works flawless

Remember to get a digital tail servo for the gyro. Something in the .06-.08 speed range.

Just got the windshield for the V1 today from Tower. Trimmed the canopy and guess what? It didn't fit. It was too short. Part number for the V1 is PV0065. So I did some checking and I will be damned this Rapter turned out to be a V2. Doh! V2 windshield part number is PV0369. And the hits keep on coming.

Sorry I didnt look at the picture closely but its obvious its a V2

The V1 spindle was threaded with a nut. The V2 spindle is internally threaded and you use a bolt and 2mm thick shouldered washer.

That's cool it was only 10 bucks. I should have gone to that Rapter website to check it first. I am thrilled that it is the latest version. Means I got more for my money. I will order the right windshield today from Tower. Should have the rest of the things I need this week. Also why do you need a digital servo for the tail?

Tail servos should be fast to react quickly to gyro inputs, you'll be happier with a good gyro/tail servo.

Plus if you go to Futaba's web site and look at the specs
http://www.futaba-rc.com/gyros/futm0780.html

it says "Digital servo required."

Yea, I forgot, that one doesn't give you the choice, it puts out at 270hz which will fry an analog (50hz) frame rate servo.
