This might be a failed thread, but here goes.....;-)

Favorite things to wrench on:
1. Clutch setup: I got bored and timed myself the other day. I was able to take my OS engine off, change the clutch springs and put everything back together in six minutues. ;-)
2. Gear mesh: (kind of part of #1) but this is so simple I cannot understand how folks struggle with this.
3. Rebuilding diffs: I hate getting to them, but love taking them apart and re-building them.

Least favorite things to wrench on:
1. Linkage: A lot has to do with the fact I have big-a$$ paws and my eye-sight is shot, so it usually takes me a little while to build a linkage system with all those small parts.
2. Tire gluing. I'm just not good at this. I'll pay the few extra bucks to have them pre-mounted.
3. Rebuilding pull-starts. I've rebuilt quite a few, and each time have become a more bitter person because of it. Ugh!

I'd love to hear you favorite/least favorites things to work on re: your rc vehicles.

My tastes are odd, but since you asked...

I like:
Installing new electronics (servos, ESCs, receivers, running wires, etc.)
Gluing tires
Adjusting suspension
Trimming new bodies
(Note these are all realatively simple tasks)

I dislike:
Painting new bodies (unless it's a 1 or 2 color scheme)
Completely rebuilding shocks
Tearing down transmissions
Making small solder joints
(Note these are either tedious or time consuming tasks)

No such thing as odd tastes. To you gluing tires is relatively easy, to me building shocks is. ;-) I'm also one of the worst at trimming bodies. Everyone has their own talents and patience for that talent.

well it depends on the tires in a way
I've had some that were a breeze to glue
others that my fingers were in pain after having to force the rubber off the rim so I could get glue under.

I've seen a few folks on here claiming to fix them in a manner of seconds. For those that can do that, you are missing a golden opportunity to charge $10.00 +shipping to fix for people. It's cheaper than buying a new one. I imagine you'd get a lot of business.

favorite:
1.  building brushed motors
2.  painting body's
3.  building ball diff's

least favorite:
1.  uhhh... doesn't exist.  i like to meticulously tinker with stuff.  not getting to, or not having to build or fiddle with my car's is what i don't like.  the better my cars run, the less likely i am to use them.

I hate wrenching period. The worst though are(in no particular order - I hate all of them..):

1.) Diffs
2.) Clutch*
3.) Linkage (I'm getting better at that though..)
4.) Tire glueing
5.) Body cutting, painting, and dremeling
6.) Shock building and oil changing
7.) Air filter maintenance*
8.) Dicking around with stripped screws

Wrenching though is kind of like jogging. It's like pulling teeth when you're doing it, but it feels kind of good when you're done.

I kind of like building kits when everything's new and clean though.

If I lived in a house with a yard and garage, and had an air compressor to clean stuff up better, wrenching could be made more palatable - or at least less awful. As is though I'm stuck in a flat in a tiny little corner of a room with very little space.

Probably the single worst thing I ever have to do is replace an LST2 steering servo. In general the LST2 is easy to work on for an MT - but those steering servos are a massive PIA to get in and out.

* Nitro-specific, yes. But soldering is worse than that whole list combined.

I'm fairly anal with my stuff and a bit of a perfectionist so it goes without saying I like to wrench on my stuff. What I like least is diffs I suppose. I also don't like working on my stuff if I don't have new stuff to fix it.  Even one mildly worn out screw or nut just won't do! Also don't like it if I don't  have enough time to do the job from start to finish. I have to many hobby's going and it seems never enough time! What I like most is getting evrything nice and clean and dialed and then taking her out and letting it rip!

Easy...

Like wrenching on: Anything with a standard 1/8th chassis layout.

Hate wrenching on: 1/5ths in general, but the HPI Baja 5b takes the cake as the worst car to work on in history.

As for specific tasks:

Love:
Building an Xray kit
Soldering
Painting bodies

Hate:
Building shocks
Building diffs
Gluing tires

If I still did nitro at all, clutch assembly/disassembly and engine break-in would be up there in the 'Hate' section too, along with 'charging more batteries to run nitro than I need for my electrics'

Nitro engine break-in is much much easier with preheating. 3-shoe clutches are kind of a pain, but a Fioroni slider for ex., or some of the four-shoe quick-change clutches are much, much easier.. For 25 engines and bigger, put a Fioroni slider on it and pretty much forget about clutch maintenance forever - except bearings every couple gallons. Really, really easy and low maintenance. Takes clutches off the list for me.

Building/takign apart diffs
Putting new tires on

Hates:
Soldering wires/connectors
Taking apart/rebuilding transmissions

The process of removing tires is a bitc*!

That's pretty much it. I don't mind doing anythign else on an RC.

The only thing I don't like is glueing tires. I usually end up with fingers glued together or to the tire. Highly irritating.
on a side note I would like to wrench my ex wife upside her skull with a heavy wrench, just saying
