zzzz -> new to scale helicopters (9/16/2003 11:34 PM)

Hi all,

I am new to this forum, so I am hoping that I would get more quicker response in this forum comparing to other forums which may take a week or two.

Anyway, I am flying pot and boom heli now. I am a bigginer, so I don't do the 3D.
I love it! However, after awhile I feel that these helicopters don't feel real. [&o]

So, I decided to invest in a scale helicopter. I think it would be fun too and I could built it to look like the real one. And, I still could go back to my older one.

With this intention, I started to look into scale helicopters and found out more info.
The part that I am very shocked and wonder the truth of it.
I went to this site http://www.v-eastonline.com/flyersale.html and talked the salesman.

He said that his scale helicopter is very stable. I think this is acceptable.
He also said that it is so stable where you could let go the control, the helicopter would hover on one spot almost automatically. This blew my mind.

Do you all now if this is true?
I am looking at the Bell 230 model. Does anyone own or experience this helicopter?
Any comment on it?

Hi.
Well you could let go of the controls if and I mean if the helicopter was setup correctly, even then only for a short time, having said that a heli will always want to move off in one direction or another.
The BELL230 is a very nice fuse and roomy inside so it is a good first scale,I have built one and it flighs very smooth.

Roy is correct. Any properly set up heli will do that. As for the products from Sandy at v-east, GO FOR IT. He's a top notch businessman who truly knows how to take care of his customers. I am 99.9% finished with a Graupner Uni-Electro Jet Ranger, and I flew the same mechanics in pod and boom configuration this past weekend. It was a hands-off hovering machine, and it was very nice to fly.
