Status: offline 		The .82 would be a great fit. You'll love that corsair it comes with a very nice hatch that gives you easy access to everything. The one I flew had the fuel dot and air for retracts inside the hatch so you can keep the outside clean and not have to drill or cut it up.

Status: offline 		I had a Hangar 9 Corsair given to me. It had been through a few missions if you get my drift. I didn't really want it but said what the heck and put a DLE 20 engine in it. I can't keep the plane on the ground during takeoff. It starts flying when I give it some throttle. The balance is right on 5 inches. I'm thinking I may have a thrust problem. Where should the thrust line be on this plane. I had to change the mounting arrangement for the gas engine. Any other suggestions are welcome.

Status: offline 		try to balance at 4 1/2", & make sure you have right amount engine trust (linear with fuse), once in the air trim your plane for straight flyght

Status: offline 		As long as you mounted the engine flush to the firewall the thrust line should be ok unless it was repaired and not don't properly. One way you can check to see if you have a thrust issue is first to be sure your balanced lateraly.! (wingtip to wingtip) then when you're flying get it flat and level at 1/2 throttle then punch it quickly. If it climbs you need to shim the motor down slightly and if it goes down then you need to shim it up. If it flew fine where the CG was at then I would leave it alone. I always balance mine slightly nose down with the CG right on 5". If everything is fine it may be a case of a little to much elev. on takeoff which isn't uncommon. Hope this helps..

Status: offline 		Thanks guys. How about the vertical alignment of the engine? Is the prop shaft (engine centerline) supposed to be lined up with the horizontal cross hair lasered into the firewall? Mine is about 7mm below that line. I don't think that little bit would make much difference anyway, but you never know. I think I will move the cg forward to about 4 inches and see what that does.

Status: offline 		As long as the tanks centerline is lined up with the carb correctly it should be fine. If you can move the engine mount in the slots on the firewall i would just to make it right.

Status: offline 		I have about 15 flights on my H9 corsair 60 and have been having a problem with noseovers and the resultant Fin damage. I see earlier in this thread that the problem can be solved by shimming the gear forward. I will try that. Today however the Ball on the U/C leg sheared off where it threads into the collet. Are these available as a spare? I'll probably need the collet as well as the theaded part of the ball stud is still in there.

I have had the same problem with my Corsair. My lhs has both cars and helis, but none of the balls are the same size. I had to order new gear. They are only about $25 bucks a set, but it still is a pia.

Status: offline 		The balls are actually a fairly standard size, 3/16 inch or 4.75mm diameter. The threaded shank is standard as well 4-40 or m3. The length would have to be spot on though so that the leg rotates the correct amount. I've been looking online and seen loads of parts that look right but  they dont have all the dimensions listed. Only hope is to try emailing the websites to see if they will actually take measurements for me. I know that the retracts are fairly cheap but do these ball studs fail regularly? If they do It makes sense to source a replacement

Status: offline 		They are a weak point and I also lost one. The guys at my LHS have a goid stock of parts, nuts, bots, screws, ball links, etc and got me a replacement in all of 30 seconds.

The distance from the mounting face surface to the ball centre is 9mm on the failed part, while on this part the distance is 8mm. The threaded part on this is 6mm long however while the failed part  thread is 3.5mm long. 1.5mm could be filed from the end of the thread of this replacement. Then when the part is tightened in the collet, 1mm of the thread would be above the surface of the collet, making up the 1mm difference in the distance between the ball centres and mounting face. The ball is the required diameter 3/16"

Status: offline 		Well, I tried to sell it many times in a few Threads throwing hints, but there were no takers.

So, I feel like the last rose of the summer, because I'm really late in comming into this Thread.

I decided to keep my H9 Corsair. In fact I started the conversion to chande it into a F2G-2 or F2G-1.

Certainly I'll remove all the covering to glass and paint the model, but currently I'm working on the scale rudder.

I've drawn outline plans and have to decide on an engine choice.

Probably gas because I want to swing a large prop. I'm thinking the 26cc.

I'll probably have questions about much of this. I did look over about 30 pages of this Thread.

Here's my efforts so far. I still have other pieces to make for the rudder, but I started drawing the parts for the stab and elevator.

I got the TF Corsair decals which are the right size, and include a lot of "miscellaneous" markings which I am not sure where to place (see pics)
