Hellcat716 -> RE: Hangar 9 60 size <span class= (11/27/2003 5:22:56 AM)

Good luck,I hope they are telling the truth because they told me a few days ago that the have not heard of a shipment date from overseas.

Hellcat716 -> RE: Hangar 9 60 size corsair arf (11/29/2003 12:14:29 AM)

Was informed today by Quantum Models that my Corsair will be shipped on Monday and should receive it by Friday.

meierm01 -> RE: Hangar 9 60 size corsair arf (11/29/2003 12:38:39 AM)

Mine came in today! Initial inspection looks promising - sturdy but very light construction. Covering was flawless (even though it's an un-scale like glossy), and the numbering on the fiberglass cowl was painted on. Nice touch.
My only concerns prior to getting the kit were the retracts. However, it seems like they will work decently enough (unlike the shabby retracts in the H8 P51 .60). At first, they exhibited quite a bit of 'slop' when deployed, but there is a small set screw that you can adjust to tighten the slop when gear is down.
The actual gear wire rotates by means of two plastic ball links. I will be interested to find out how these links hold up while taxing/landing on grass. I may try to find a way to strengthen them.
Power will be a Saito 100. Should be a fun plane!

What prop do you intend to use?

PigMan Buggerus -> RE: Hangar 9 60 size corsair arf (11/29/2003 3:43:23 AM)

I am going with the Saito 100 in mine as well. I think I am going to run a 14x8 on it. Any opinions on that? I have a Saiot 100 in a Cap 232 sport model from kange. I run the APC 16x4 Wide in it. I think this model begs for a little more speed. Gotta call the hobby shop to see if mines in.

rcspec -> RE: Hangar 9 60 size corsair arf (11/29/2003 1:49:52 PM)

Pigman,

I agree with the 14x8 with the saito 100. It should fly the corsair great. That is what I run on my H9 p-51 and it flys well. Weight and size are about the same but aerodynamics may make a difference. Let me know how it works out. I am eyeing this plane also.

Got a call from thr LHS, mine is here and will pick it up tomorrow. I will be using the new YS110.

Please let us know your opinion of the quality of the Corsair, especially the retracts.
Curious minds want to know!

Thanks

davham -> RE: Hangar 9 60 size corsair arf (11/30/2003 8:38:39 PM)

Yep got it.......picked it up a little bit ago, had to sneek out on break.

But, I'm still at work and the plane is in the truck. Wont get a good look until tomorrow morning. I will post a few close-up pic's of the retracts if no one has done it by then.

LDJL -> RE: Hangar 9 60 size corsair arf (12/1/2003 3:00:29 AM)

Guys, I'm pretty new at this and RC Universe but I have enjoyed all of the dialogue on this topic. The Corsair will be my 4th plane and I am planning to use an OS .91 4stroke (Surpass I) with a 3 blade 13x8 prop. I'd be interested in your opinions. Thanks

davham -> RE: Hangar 9 60 size corsair arf (12/1/2003 4:47:41 AM)

Got a good peek inside and construction looks very good, typical H9. The covering is well done and mine has no wrinkles. The fuse weighs next to nothing and the belly pan is already attached. Mine has a few scratches on the covering, they did not use the thin white foam material as on the mustangs. Should be easy to assemble and look really good. Now for the retracts, mine has side to side play and I can wiggle the rotating mechanism meaning the wheels will try to rotate inward while taxing.
It also take a fair amount of force to retract the gear. This is with no wheel and one retract, it may tax a single servo with two tires though. Someone mentioned in another thread there are some set screws that can be adjusted to remove the play. I have not looked at this. I myself will leave these in and see what can be done.
Here's some pic's of the gear.

More..............

cstevec -> RE: Hangar 9 60 size corsair arf (12/1/2003 1:28:18 PM)

Looks interesting. Is there much slop in the bell crank assembly? LHS should call me any time I guess. Can you post a pic of the whole kit?

JuzPlaneKrazy -> RE: Hangar 9 60 size corsair arf (12/1/2003 3:00:09 PM)

davham ,
Thanks for the pics. I know I've been waiting for a look at it Big time. The coating looks typical H-9 (Very Good). The retracts, the wire looks big 3/16 ?? And as far as the linkage go's is it good and slop free ???
I'm sure there will be a aftermarket set that will fit, one way or the other. I love my H-9 Arf's, bad gear or not.

Please post more pic's.............Santa's coming to town soon and I need to start being nice rite now to put this Bird on my list.
So it can set next to my (2) P-51's, Ultra Stick & Texan.

iflircaircraft -> RE: Hangar 9 60 size corsair arf (12/1/2003 4:06:36 PM)

Thanks so much for the pics. Looks like I'll be happy when Santa brings it!!
LOL

HotelSierra -> RE: Hangar 9 60 size corsair arf (12/1/2003 9:55:21 PM)

I called Horizon Hobby Distributors on 11/24/03 and the phone salesperson said that the corsair kits had arrived, but were not going to be shipped out until end of week or beginning of next week due to a "quality control issue" of a single part. He said there was a part in all the kits that arrived "not acceptable" and they were waiting for the replacement parts anyday to put them into the boxes. He said that the part was "minor", but also could not tell me what part it was. Does anybody know? Of those of you who already received their kits, is their an instruction addendum or two of the same part? My kit is already on its way.

John_RedSox -> RE: Hangar 9 60 size corsair arf (12/1/2003 11:42:56 PM)

I have a different version from Pete at H9. All the kits were fixed with that "Unacceptable Part" before any of the kits were shipped. So everyone who has theirs is ok in terms of the "Unacceptable Part" being fixed. Hope this puts this problem to rest. John
