Those are the exact ones I have on there way. Going to be very cool indeed.

Well I just got my gas motor back with a bigger carb and my receivers showed up in the mail the same day. I have a little advise, for those of you who are like me. I have been using the same receivers for about 3 years now. Well I sent a couple in to get checked, one to get the antenna replaced. Well I am very glad that I sent the one in for a check-up. Turns out it was very close to causing me some serious issues, well my F4U or P-40 to be exact. My point is get them checked periodically. Even if they haven't been involved in a crash. Besides that, repairs, tuning, and testing on both was less then $50. To replace them would've been closer to $200. Now the really cool part, I told my wife that I was going to need new receivers and how much it was going to cost. She was like, oh ok. Now I have $150 to spend on something else, like a 12 pack after the maiden..

Guys, I have had this plane for a year and a half and all i have ever done is nose it over on take and landings 2 out of every 3 times. Well i got tried of it and set it up as a display model( althought with all the gear still in it). Couple of months ago a bought a sundowner 50 and that thing is fast but learning how to land it under power helped me a lot. I took the cosair out this weekend and finally starting landing and taking off with no issues. I love the look pof this plane in the air. I am sure glad that i did not sell it. I have century jet retracks, but i might have to go to the LADO ones they look great!!!

Maybe somebody will report on using the LADOs in this Corsair. Mine were ordered on May 18th. When they show up, I'll post what I find out. That is, if someone else doesn't beat me to it.

Got one question, how has the CG been coming out? I will be using a Saito 1.25 W/ Keloe pitts style exhaust. Just geting ready to install radio equipment now.

    Thanks Shane

It's a taildragger, so if you want it to handle on the ground, you balance the CG as far aft as you're comfortable with. The manual doesn't give a CG range, just a location. If you work out the CG range with http://www.geistware.com/rcmodeling/cg_super_calc.htm and go with it's aft location, you'll have a good safe flying model that also is less apt to tip over when on it's wheels.

I've got an OS91FX in mine. It's about 24 ounces with the muffler. I moved the battery and RX back to help the ground handling. The attached picture shows them where they are now, right under the wing bolts. It flies like a dream.

Thats where my bat and receiver are located as well.. To balance it out at the 5" recommendation, i will need about 1 1/2 ounces to get it where I want it. Here's a few pic's of my setup. and a short vid of the retracts for those who haven't seen it.

Thanks for the video Shane - one question, can you tell if you would be able to use 3/8" robostruts with the LADO's? I can't tell by the video if there is enough clearance between the retract housing and the retracted strut to allow the use of robostruts.
    Thanks
    Butch

I read somewhere, maybe this thread, that you could use them and would have only a hair of room between the housing and strut. I want to try some after I get a few flights on it first. This is actually the wifes plane. I was gonna sell it and she said,"NO".. She loves the Corsair. She doesn't fly, yet..

    FYI - MINE CAME TODAY!
Some additional info on these units:
    Strut size is 5/32"
The retract angle is 90 degrees.
There is 1/8" clearance under the wire strut when retracted. 3/8" robostruts will work - 7/16" are doubtful.

Since butchn's photos illustrate that the wire strut mount is in fact centered on the hinge rotation axis, posts 1846-47 show that the drawings on the Lado site of these units indicate a .0225" (1/44" ) gap between 3/8" struts and the housing.

I've found that there is a lot of force on the wire that Robo struts are mounted on and they will bend somewhat after a hard landing. This bending can easily eliminate that 1/44" clearance. The aluminum housing looks thick and strong enough to be able to grind as much as a 1/16" trough in it (all the way down to the screw threads maybe?) for additional clearance. Maybe Lado could be persuaded to machine that trough if asked nicely.

Pit-Viper 1, that is very sweet that your wife loves the Corsair. Give her a big kiss on the cheek for that.

Well here's a few pics doing final setup and just looking cool.. lol Wife is taking lots of pics of this one.. I almost don't want to maiden it. If something goes wrong I will drop the radio and run in the opposite direction . J/K I won't drop my radio.. She knows its part of the hobby, but then again she hasn't liked a plane this much since I started.

Looking good! The Corsair has always been a favorite of mine too. Your wife has very good taste. The ladies seem to like GBs of any type also. They think that GBs are "cute." You gotta know how to please the ladies, I always say.

Well she flies like she's on rails.. CG right at 5" per the destructions and 2oz on the tail. Going to be reinforcing the vertical and horizontal stabs for sure. After I landed I had one wheel off the runway and the right wheel turned out, causing it to flip and breaking to top of the rudder. Guess I didn't check the wire well enough, those 2 grub screws that hold the wire into the retract are kind of finicky as too the way they like to be tightened. Try to be sure and get them even on both screws as well as grinding the flat spot.

Well anyway, I did get a video of it. The wife wasn't going to let me do this one without her there.
