Richard L , thanks a ton for the color info . I cant tell you how much help that will be . I am going to look for some squarden info from the books .

One last question is the Model Master that you suggest , is that for air guns , dose it come in cans or is that the small bottles that I see on shoppes.
    Thanks again .

These come in small bottles for painting small plastic models. Of course you can thin these down and spray them using an airbrush. Only two colors (Intermediate Blue and White) are available in 3 oz. spray cans. You can buy the little bottles, airbrush the colors onto plastic chips, and have your local paint store mix you a quart of each.

has anyone noticed any upthrust in the firewall? Mine seems to have some built in. I was just wondering if this was a fluke or not?
    Thanks,

After inatalling the engine in mine I checked with a incidence meter and used the stab as a referance. Results were 0 down . so I would assume thats the way it should be.

    LDM,
I wanted to take this back to look more like a WWII corsair. With the use of Ultracote and some new insignias its looking a little different.

Sorry, let me attach some photos. After some scuffing, spraying on dust & dirt and then clear coat flat, I will be in business.

So CJ is offering a retractable tail wheel? I like the thought of that... BUT how do you think that works with the exposed rudder/TW servo and such.... just a thought.... Has anyone done the relocation of the rear servos yet? I was thinking to put them over the wing and run gold -n- rods like a traditional setup. this would allow for a retracting tail wheel... to setup the rudder, look at the method on the GSP corsair. Make an access panel where the tail wheel sits now and you should be all good.

Let me know what you guys in the know think

I am working on that at this time { tail wheel, Robart, not CJ, I had it sitting in a box-o-stuff where I keep extra parts from other projects } What I can tell you so far is the tail of the Corsair is a balsa block, about 5/8 inch thick starting behind the last bulkhead { that's where the original tail wheel bushing is located }, everything in front of that bulkhead is sheeting. Looks like I will be cutting the rudder/ tail wheel rod and have the control horn inside the fuselage for the rudder, It will be above the tail wheel retract assembly, and against the top of the inside of the fuselage. It's a tight squeeze, but It should work. The tail wheel steering will be pull/pull. I am going to have to make a plate to attach the retract to the bulkhead also.
You will have to relocate the servos, the elevator servo sits right against the and to the rear of that last bulkhead where the retract mechanism has to sit.
Sorry I don't have any photos, scanners broken.

    LDM,
Im not saying Ultracote instead of paint. Im saying I chose to do some recovering instead. Either way you can get there. In fact, on my TF P47 I covered in silver & gray Monocote and then shot camo on top with Lustercote. Again, either way will get you where you are trying to go.

Guys, the Corsairs look great I am going to pick mine up next week and I have decided to go with one of my new OS Surpass II 91 and a three blade Aeronaut prop.
LDM, I will most likely add some trim paint to my plane as well. I will airbrush the colors on with the Testors Model Master Enamels they airbrush great when thinned about 30% with their airbrush thinner. And then I spray a top coat of 2 part automotive acrylic clear because the Model Master Enamels are not fuel proof so you need to top coat them with a clear coat of some type. You can probably use one of the polyurethane clears at the hardware store but I would check to see if it will not destroy the Model Masters. I dont know if the Lustercote clear works over them or not. Just make sure you test your top clear and let the Model Masters dry for about two days or so before top coating.

To attach picture click on the " Upload images" and then browse too where your pictures are on your PC then click on them and upload when you hit reply.
    Thanks Joe

LustreKote clear will work fine over Model Master Enamels and Acrylics.

Thanks Warbird Pilot, that's good to know in a pinch. Only problem is that you can no longer buy Lusterkote in Southern California So I will continue using the 2 part automotive acrylic, I can just make it less glossy by thinning it a bit more. I was not a fan of Lustercote anyway so its not a big loss but it was nice to have in a pinch. I can still order perfect paints from Tower and spray them with my airbrush.
    Thanks Joe

I forgot to add that when I order the CJM Retracts I will also get the retractable tail wheel. I think its pneumatic as well and I will install the gear doors for the tail wheel it shoule be easy to do. The main gear doors a easy enough you just need to find a way to keep them from twisting with the struts
I will post pictures of my trim scheme and retracts when I get it all together
