Hi,
As i'm gathering all the information i need for my next scratch build plane, i came across a few questions -
first let me say that this jet will be a sport jet, balsa buildup, with a standard look like the BVM bandit.
the turbine will be located at approx. middle and will use a pipe for it.
the horizontal stab will have an elevator, not a full flying stabilizer.
i have no problem calculating the needed wing area and tail factor, and calculating the needed CoG with the Tail Volume Coefficient.

my question is: is there any recommended airfoil for the wing? on my previous builds u used Eppler 168 which proved to be very good but i dont thing it will fit a high speed jet.
i am planning on building the horizontal and vertical fins from a symmetrical NACA profile (probably 0010) but dont know what airfoil to use for the wing.
furthermore, since the wing will be tapered and probably use a symmetrical airfoil, i want to build it with a dynamic washout but first i need to decide on the main (root) airfoil.
once this one will be decided, ill calculate the lift coefficient and stall angle and choose a different, higher lift airfoil for the wing tip.
i am using profili, which is a great software to design wings.

so, any thoughts? does someone knows what airfoil is been used in the common sport jets like the flash or bandit?

please share your thoughts, any input is welcomed.

Ravivos.

Hi Ravivos, I have the BVM Bandit airfoils for wings, stab and rudder in dwg file, let me know if you are interested. The powder was invented a lot of years ago.

Hi Jesus,
that will be great, have no intentions to "invent the wheel", just the challenge of a self designed and built plane.
do you happen to know the name of the airfoils? so i would be able to find them on Profili...
anyway - PM with my email.
Thanks,

Any other inputs regarding a recommended airfoil?

Ravivos.

Hi Ravivos, the airfoils have not name, so you can't looking for it in Profili

PM sent.
