Been away from jets for awhile. I love the RC Jets forum but it seems that a few people are just destroying every thread. Everything is taken wrongly and escalates up to a shouting match. Many people have said this is our way to relax, but the amount of name calling, etc, is making it not any fun any more... Just my two cents.

Yep things have change, recently some people trashed a return event at Coachella, CA. just because they felt the way the club held the event.

Well it is there field and there event,  they make the rules jet pilots do not.

Even threads were suppose to be tounge and cheek, damage was done.

People forget that we are invited to these events that clubs hold, bust up the club and guess what no more event.

Sad Very Sad.

Yes I have. Since Kangaroos were the norm and the JetCat 120 was king of the hill. You could hear scuba tanks whistle as they were spooling up the AMT's. you could even see some JPX's using fuel filled in IV bags! How's that for reminiscing?

There is a ton of great info available to us on this thread, there are a lot of wonderful people happy to help or just communicate, you can make friends here, and it can be really funny too, this is a great site. But there are also a lot of big egos here (not me!) and so it comes with the territory. My advice, never mind the bollocks! Stay out of the fights, learn what you need and contribute when you can.

As a mod I work bet when people use the report button to raise a ticket on a post.

RC Jets is usually the busiest forum and I make no attempt to read all posts. I look at anything I think might be controversial and check out the usual suspects posts but it really is up to the members to report stuff.

Anyway welcome back to RC Jets.

"Anyway welcome back to RC Jets."

Thanks! We've gotten into it big time. In just a few months, we now have a new Élan with JetCat P140, a Skymaster large F-16 with JetCat P200, and on order, a large Skymaster ViperJet with P180. We were bitten badly. I've been in RC for around 35 years and it started getting hum drum lately. Jets have turned that around for me. There's just so many things to divert your interests nowadays...

The moderator, John Duncker, deleted my humorous post and even your response..."now that is funny". I posted that your observation was the "most stupid and ignorant post I have read in at least 24hrs ". The narrator deleted that saying it was a personal attack.

My original post was NOT a "personal attack". But I apologize to John and anyone else, including the moderator, that thought it was.

George

Man, guys have to lighten up........(this means the MODS too)........heavy hands on the "report" button of late

Political correctness and the term "that's inappropriate " are destroying this country. Not sure about the rest of the world but in America there's no doubt.

While I have removed my post here, it's ok, it's been quoted by another upstanding member..... there really is no value in debating what this forum is anymore.

Yep, but the good people who have always gone out of their way still seem to be here.

You just have to sort through the crap to get to the important stuff and resist the temptation to be drawn into the useless threads.

Welcome back to jets, better, cheaper, easier now!

Mods? Tough job, just like a cop's job, everyone thinks they are being hard done by when THEIR post is deleted.

The only one I've had deleted had a pic of the UPS delivery girl, sexually inappropriate I think was the reason - John.

Guess what ? It is not just the RC Jets Forum. It seems that people on many other forums just enjoy flaming other folks. Sad to say but it just appears the road that todays society is taking. Sometimes it appears, to me personally, that people are just venting pent up anger.

People come in all types. The good, the bad and the ugly. And if you have not noticed these same three groups are in the modeling community. Never been around jets but I know it takes both money and skill to keep them airborne.

I sat as a moderator on this forum for a couple of years. When I was a moderator, I tried incredibly hard to adhere to the rules as written and take personal opinion out of it. Sadly, the mods today do NOT do this. Use the "report" button....... uh huh, well, I've tried that, and I get responses like "Well, it is against the rules but I think it adds value to the thread and I think the member might be new so I'll let it stand"....... bullsh!t. If it's against the rules it's against the rules. But again, rules seem to be based on how the moderator feels about it. When you question them on their actions, they can't even be bothered to explain.

Want examples? How about the thread where Ali posted pictures of his new Audi R8? Or threads where Sean made posts about a play he's in? What do those have to do with RC Jets? Nothing, do I think they should be removed? NO! They are jet guys sharing with their jet friends, however, when I posted about my birds of prey, the thread was moved within the afternoon. I cited many examples in PM to the moderator asking why they were allowed and guess what? NO RESPONSE!!!

Did people call me an **** when I was a moderator? Yup, all the time, hell, I received threats via PM at times. BUT, when I resigned, I had more PM's and posts in the forum that I can remember with people telling me "you know, I thought you were an **** while you moderated, but at least you were EQUAL WITH EVERYONE". It's a crap ass job, it really is, but at the end of the day, it wasn't thrust upon you without any options, the moderators volunteer for the position, if you aren't going to be equal in the forum, don't be a moderator. The rules are very clear, to bad they seem to be open to interpretation by each moderator.

Am I sounding bitter about it? Yup, I am, for all the times I have tried to help on this forum, to have my personal posts shut down, moved, or otherwise when they were no more unrelated than a huge percentage of threads in the forum does piss me off to no end.

There are members here who have done nothing but advertise (and do so without being advertisers but their threads get left alone), there are members here who have solicited donations on the site for certain things and those threads were left alone. There are members who continually break the rules time and time again and they are left alone.

How does one get to be part of the cool kids club on RCU these days? I've yet to figure that one out.

The worst part is, I just spent the time to write this, but how much you want to bet it gets deleted?

I fly RC jets! There, now it's jet related!

"I'm so great and everything I say is wonderful."

There you have it OP John.  The reason why this forum has gone the way it has.  So much ego.

Moderator has now deleted my apology.

Apparently the moderator didn't agree that it was humorous. He deleted my apology with a rather abrasive personal attack in his explanation sent to me...something about my 'expertise in one liners' which would only seem to underscore even his acknowledgement that it was a joke. Kind of strange?

This thread did exactly what I was asking about. I see it in various forums all over the Internet. Some are completely clear of it and others are so laced with it, I quit going there. Will just have to learn to push the ignore button more often. I agree with many here and wonder if its a sign of the times and is similar to road rage and politics in Washington. Oh we'll, let's just let this thread die...

A reading and observation of this thread has revealed to me that the majority of the people that have posted in this thread are "doing" the very things they are complaining about.. Wow.
If anything has happend to this forum, well there you go.
I do not fly jets.

Move to Australia, we still know how to have fun, laugh at ourselves and not take life too seriously.. .

I have been visiting the USA regularly for the past ten years and have been in the USA since 2nd Jan this year, I like and admire my friends across the Pacific but MAN, I cannot wait to go home. I miss the relaxed Aussies with their laconic and tongue in cheek humour.

I have noticed a massive change since the GFC, many here seem so serious and untrusting..   I can't put petrol in my car without pre paying? HUH?   I paid a $100 bill today for a haircut and they spent 5 minutes checking it to see it if was fake... What happened to "innocent until proven guilty?"

God Bless the US of A, sorry to see you guys doing it so tough..

Ha ha ha ha! Now that is humor! Keep in mind this is an international forum, you can't keep up the myth of the laid back Aussie for long, ha ha. I mean, since we are keeping it real and all and complaining about "the other guy" It's called "culture shock" not "inferiority". It works both ways, we all like to go home at the end of the day. But in the grand scheme of things, I'm always happy to share good laughs with my Auzz colleagues and friends. We all have a lot more in common than not when given half a chance and not too wound up or looking to be offended by trivia.
