Status: offline 		 Just want to know when using brushless systems what other than loctite do you use for helping with holding pinions on motor shaft. Or do you use anything at all? Because my last battle with removing the pinion and stripping the hex screw was a battle. I had to drill the sucker out! I need to know if its something you do beside Loctite or how do you do it?

Status: offline 		I use Blue Locktite or "Zap" Blue Threadlock. I would not recommend not using any form of threadlock.

Yeah, its just bad to have to drill them out when you need to change a pinion.

Status: offline 		I hear ya, been there. here's a tip in the event you ever need to take a pinion off a shaft, heat the pinion for like 20 seconds, then try removing the set screw. Works good.

Status: offline 		I know the right type of loctite is important. The different colors mean differnt stengths. The weakest one is enough for that application.

another trick is to make a slight indent on the motor shaft for the slug screw to fit into. This lets it sit further down in the pinion gear.

This is where good tools are important. You can buy a set of hex keys at walmart for $2. But a proper set of hex drivers for RC is $25-$50. But the quality is way differnt. I kept putting off buying good tools and kept regretting it every time I stripped somthing out.

For future reference, if you strip out anouther you dont have to destroy the pinion gear to get it out. You need an easy-out bit set. This can get the slug screw out without damaging the threads on your pinion gear.

I bought an easy out, but it didn't go small enough, and I hope these Kobalt hex wrench will do because I bought them the other day just so I wouldn't use this cheap one that comes with the car. I hope to use the tips you all provided to make it go smoother next time.
