Hey...Are the maneuvers listed on the Classic Pattern call sheets call sheets flown centered in front of the pilot? The turn around maneuvers are not listed or scored, correct? Do you verbally state the next maneuver to the judges (ie: Next maneuver will be.....?)

Thanks for your help!!

Chuck

In classic pattern and it the same in  senior pattern,   the manuevers are centered in front of the pilot.     The pilot will call out his next manuever as in   "next manuever will be  stall turn"     And then when he is ready to start the manuever,  he will call out,  " beginning now".

Turn around  pattern  each manuever is placed in an imaginary  box  in the sky  and  you  begin each manuever at the end of the previous manuever.

It's takes a slower plane to fly turn around.   That's why so many of the   F3A  planes are so big.  They fly slower and designed in such away, that when in a dive,   they don't  pick up speed.

In my opinion,    CPA and SPA  are easier to fly,  because you have time to set up your next  manuever with plenty of time.

http://www.classicpatternassociation.com/uploads/1980-1981.pdf copy of the rule book. It has judging criteria. The big thing is the planes are flown much closer in and there is a 60 deg altitude judged by the necks of the judges. A lot of the time the maneuvers started on the deck compared to today. How you get the plane turned around is outside of the judging area and up to the pilot.

Thank You Countlaw and TFF...That is exactly what I wanted to know!!

I have flown a modern (turnaround) pattern contest once...I've seen the last few flights of one SPA contest and was sitting by the judges so I got to see how that went...I "thought" BPA/CPA would be the same but just wanted confirmation...

I would like to practice the right way...I hope I can get to some BPA contests this year!! Some SPA contests would be fun too!!

I  think the   BPA   is  more    CPA   now.

Golden Triangle RC Club will be hosting a    SPA/CPA    pattern meet on June  22 and 23.      We will raffling off a   Curare by   Quality Line Kits   among other things.    The entry fee is  only  $20.00 which includes   Saturday lunch and a raffle ticket  which will be good for all the items raffled off.

Check out the attachment for more information.
