I have a Zen G26 that had the older type of electronic ignition (4.8 volt only). Wondering if the new Zen ZP ignitions will work on it ? The older ignition attached to the enging backplate and the pickup was adjacent to the rear of the engine. Pictures of the new ZP shows the pickup at the front of the engine adjacent to the shaft. Wondering if the pickup on the new ZP ignition can be mounted on the rear ??

I guess with some re-engineering it could be made to work, but instead of trying to convert the newer Zen ignition to fit your older EI G26 engine, why not get an RC exl replacement ignition for your original Zen ignition which is a straight plug and play arrangement. Seems like a lot less hastle to me and cheaper too.

Thanks karolh, that is a good thought but what happened is I sent my G26 to Horizon because I could not get it to run reliably. They believe it was from a bad ignition module so they replaced it (free under warranty) with the newer ZP ignition. My guess is that they only have the newer ignitions ..... and no longer have the older type/style.

The answer to your problem is here.

Perhaps you could try selling it and use the proceeds from the sale to buy an RC exl unit from Milton at RC eXtreme Power
.

I've contacted our service department about this for you. They should be getting in touch with you soon. This was our mistake. If you don't hear from them today please call in on Monday and ask to speak directly to service, not product support.

Pete

Pete,

This is good customer service, but will the service department people be able to graft the new type ignition onto his engine, as is seems he wants to get away from the using the old power hungry ignition if possible.
