You can call it a stumper or a ponderer or something similar if you like. This may sound crazy, but I have one. It's tank mounting! Yes to most it is probably simple, easy, and straightforward, but for me it seems in every plane I stop and ponder. I am not talking where to put it, but how to hold it in place. Zip ties, Velcro straps, rubber bands, or some other way? Even in ARFs, I do some mods and the tank is no exception. As an example I just spent two days trying to figure out how to hold my tank in place on an ultra stick lite. I have had to move it back from the firewall because it has a G26 that covers the hole in the firewall and I need to reroute the fuel lines. Because of this it has to sit across the top of the first former. Well after 2days I have it figured out and in place......Oh almost forgot and I like my tanks easy to remove for servicing.

So do you have a stumper?

Now I like that one and also have it. It seems that we always have 25-30 mph winds on the weekends or it rains. I live about 30 miles from mine, so it is not one I can get to after work. I do have a couple of park fliers that i can fly around the house, but this time of year, the winds aren't giving me a break.

Hooked,
I've got to say that it's good to see you back in the hobby. Didn't we meet in person a few years back at Warbirds Over Oklahoma?? Forgive me if I get this wrong, but I've slept recently so my memory has some holes in it. If I remember correctly you had a Sig Hog Bipe you wanted me to maiden for you. If that's not right forgive me, and as Roseanne Roseannadanna  would say...... "Never Mind!!!!!!!"

No Ken you are right on target. I had the hog bipe build thread and it is still active. I was going strong and hit a wall with RC. Not literally, but just lost all interest. I sold all my stuff and left the hobby altogether. On a personal level I think it had a lot to do with a prescription that almost did me in. It took about a year to recover, we bought a sailboat and did that for awhile, then I lost my job at the height of the recession. Got into motorcycles, hit sand on the road and that sent me to the hospital with 2 broken ribs and fractured collarbone.....geesh even as I write this, I can't believe my "good luck"....LOL. Anyway, I had saved one of my planes and about a year ago I got it down out of the attic and am hooked again...so yes, I am back.

Thanks for remembering. BTW we haven't met, but there is still that possibility as I am still around Tulsa.

Man, sorry to hear about the bad luck you've had. I know how it goes on the medications though as I had some issues until I got my pain meds straight (discharged from the Army with a bad back in 1996). I wish you were back in the hobby last summer as I covered Warbirds Over Tulsa last year and was in the area. I don't know if I'll be able to get back up there this year to cover it. If you're ever down here in my neck of the woods in Lawton I'd love to have you come fly with us. I need an excuse to get my Hog Bipe back in the air!!! I had a bad landing and did a number on the bottom wing. I've built a new bottom wing but need to get it covered and get the plane back in the air.

Anyway, it's good to see you back in the hobby. Hopefully we can hook up and get some flying in!!!!

Ken

Warbirds over Tulsa is a Gluedobbers activity and I do get to their field sometimes. The layoff wasn't totally unexpected and I did get a severance package. I am working again and am doing well so flying is back in my plans. Will let you know if I get to either to OKC or Lawton for flying.

Consider Elk City an open invitaion also. And that goes to anybody traveling I-40. We are on city property so AMA is required but we welcome all visiters to use our site even if we cant be there. You just need to give me a heads up so i can give you the gate combo.

Thanks David,

I just might load up the pickup with a few planes and head that way sometime. It's always fun to try a different field now and then.
