I'm trying to figure out the wiring for a panzer iv HL elevation unit.

It's a BB unit and it seems the motor for the turret elevation is wired to the BB unit and then wired to the hull (that then goes to the RX-18).

The issue the tank has is as followed:
No elevation movement.
Elevation sound works.

Also... does the BB unit switch need to be on for the elevation to work? I should have tried that but by the time i thought of it, the turret was already in peices

This little tank is coming togethere really finely. All kind of little mods to it (moved switches to rear of hull), weld line details, other details, turret schurzen, etc.

All at the request of my lovely fiancee (a girl that likes tanks, how great is that!?)

The switch in normal HL tanks does NOT need to be on for gun elevation.

Check the motor solder point, they come off regularly, i've seen it a couple times.

Have you done any rewiring at all? Make sure all the wires @ the 8 pin connector are still intact, they can be loose too.

Partial rewiring which i checked 5 times so far. Everything looks fine, so etheir a cold join or dead motor.

To trouble shoot run connections to both poles of the elevation motor from a battery. This will tell you if the motor works.

I was thinking that but what's a safe voltage?

5 volts, but a short blast of 7 shouldn't cause a problem. You just want to see if the motor runs, and then disconnect it right away. Unplug everything from the RX 18. You don't want the voltage applied getting back to the RX 18.
