I guess it all depends on what you call a crash.

I was landing my Tiger 60 one afternoon, ended up in the tall grass rather than on the runway centerline. I lost perspective and was focusing on the landing but never realized where the stupid thing was. I realized that I really never glued the horizontal stab on right, there was virutally no glue under there so the tail just fell off. I reglued it, lots of epoxy this time, and had it up the next day.

I also managed to land my trainer, NexSTAR ok, but the landing roll ended up, again, in the tall grass. It abruptly stopped and pushed the left side landing gear right back to the rear former. A little fiberglass and epoxy fixed that and I was again up and flying the next day.

Broke several props with hard landings, bent some landing gear, bent nose gear particularly, especially on the trainer while.... yep, you guessed it, training.. but nothing that actually broke the airplane.

i just crashed today(10/4/05) at 5:00 in the evening. inverted pass 4 ft up whent to push out, caught a wind shear it rolled the wing whick caught the ground and rotated me into the groung at about 55 MPH. hit the dirt, broke the fuse in half just dinged the wing but managed to knock 2 fins off of the engine (not even mine. another guy was letting me fly his while mine was in for repair). plane was (is no longer) a 4* 60 with os 91 four stroke (used to be a saito 100). It sucks. but i just turned around said "game over!!" and started on the walk of shame. i will probably start a thread with pictures if you are interested.

Brian

MAN!!! those poll results arent what i thought they would be. there are some heavy numbers in each of the first five only to have first solo to pull away. but i wasnt expecting the closeness of the rest of them

I crashed on first flight because I had no instruction. I was in South East Asia 1970 and the only American with any type of r/c. I used a Free Flight bird for first r/c and tried to control it. Eventually I did fly and gave the bird away after solo, but I recommend everyone use an instructior.. Which I now am.. Jim

there's no button for five seconds!! old airtronics eclipse glider. first test glide to check cg. also was first time ever operating any rc vehicle that was meant to leave the ground for extended periods. glided right into a pile of cut brush. only had to re- cover the bottom center section of the wing. BTW, I don't consider it a crash unless the plane needs to go home for repairs. if it can be fixed at the field yhen you just had a hard landing.

I had a COX S-TEE. This was back in 1978. It had a .049 with no throttle, just elevator and rudder. It flew OK but I thought it needed to go faster. I put a .09 on the nose (still no throttle). It took off like a bat out of heck and did a beautiful vertical. I lost site, control, and situational awareness with-in the first 2 minutes of the flight. Next thing I knew it was a bag of balsa and parts spread across a 50 yard patch of ground. Never did rebuild but have never again had a plane with no throttle. I also learned that more power is not always the right choice. LOL (Well sometimes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

If you want any real damage then 2nd flight first dead stick took the gear off. If you want destroyed need a new plane, flight 25 inverted and pulled instead of pushing for a loop. WOT straight in, never did find the carb. I put within 5 flights on the poll.

Been flying over a year... no balsa carnage, yet.
I take that back, I did manage to knock the gear off of my Katana, but so did many others with the same model.
Other than the occasional foul landing, I'm doin ok with the pricey planes.

I crash the foamie(s) all the time though - but I dont think they count, expendable and expected to die doing stupid stuff on purpose.
I've found that I really like EPP... and dont care much for Depron (Airfoilz excluded, really like my Yak)

Oh... and there is NO substitute for a simulator!
(I managed to work out the dumb-thumbs with it... so far.)
It's saved me hundreds, probably thousands. $$$$$
