hehehe, nice one Jon, although every time I see the Elf logo, I keep thinking that plane needs another wing in front of the wing, and possibly Jody Scheckter as the pilot

Nice looking plane, Joe. I'll bet it flies as good as it looks. Can't wait to see it down the road!

Check with Chris at F3A Unlimited as I know he has carried them in the past. Maybe he can provide more information

If you can make it down to Hollywood, MD this weekend for the D1 vs D2 Challenge I think you will see that the overwhelming powerplant choice for pattern in its current state is electric.

The last contest at Conyngham, PA had 18 or 19 pilots competing and all but 4 flew electric. I am a recent convert and I have to say that I wish I hadn't waited so long. Used to be it was difficult to make weight with e-ships, but now with e-specific models and newer power set-ups it is a breeze and the performance is fantastic.

There is an initial investment switching over, especially if you want a nice field charging capability. I made a charging station using a plastic tool box, an Iota DLS55 power supply, two CellPro10S chargers and a Honda 1000 watt inverter generator. This wasn't cheap, obviously, but once it is done it won't have to be repeated again, at least for a few seasons, and then perhaps on a piece-by-piece basis.

I agree with Bob, come on down to the contest. Guys will be showing up tomorrow. If you need to directions go to www.paxaero.com and click on the link for flying field on the left.

Actually very few planes have a truly flat side anymore. Most are going to very subtle curves. Please feel free to come down though, and I'll have the new 2m Vanquish from Extreme Flight out for anyone to take a ride on again.

Arch:

Thanks very much. I put three flights on it yesterday before my low time YS 170 had a catastrophic failure (metal parts in the bottom of the crankcase). I installed my spare 170 wnet out today and flew two flights before the pump failed. Got the pump repaired so I will try to get some more time on the plane this week. You know, thses types of things sure make want to think hard about electric but then agian that is off thread and a whole nother discussion.

Thanks again for the kind words and see you in Muncie.
