Finally finished the rest of my cowl.
Cut the bottom section off and epoxied 1/16" ply to the upper portion and will screw the lower portion in place.
Makes easy access to engine compartment without having to remove prop and spinner.

Great idea on the cowl. I recieved the manifolds from the great Karl Reinbold. BOLD MUFFLERS! Here are some pics for the manifolds
mounted up. We are in the process of prototyping the internal mounting parts for the engine. I will post more pictures as we progress.
If anyone is interested in the system please contact Karl at 772.344.8785 or email at waldopepper1@earthlink.net

Wow, those look sweet!!

so, does Karl have these now for sale? would you care to share what price? he is a super nice guy.

very nice install btw. i would like to get some of these to put in mine mustang. manifolds will be totally different than your very nice creation. what are you going to do to "age" them? also, will there be any muffling action?

cheers

joe

Hi Joe,
Thanks. I'm not sure what Karl wants for the system yet. We are still prototyping the internal parts. I would recommend calling him. He is a super guy and I'm sure he could help you out. He has made manifolds for the Ziroli P-51, Nosen, and the ME-109.
Karl is a true craftsman. I anticipate that we will have this "system" complete by the end of the month. I'm going down to meet Karl in Fla. this Saturday. I will keep you posted. I put Karl's contact numbers in the previous posting.

Sincerely,
John

TLH101,
Would you please give us the equation you used to calculate that speed? I'm not doubting it, just want to know how you derived it?

Thanks,

Hey guys, I am new to this site and have really enjoyed all the information on here. I have gotten the bug and have jumped back into the hobby after many years. I have a 4*120 with a Ryobi 31 and a 1/3 scale Flybaby hanging in the shop. I couldn't stand it and jumped off and ordered the TF P-51 ARF yesterday. I have everything on the way except the engine. I originally wanted to go with a G62, but have been looking hard at the rear exhaust 40 ZDZ. Do any of you have pics of these installations or have any advice for me? Thanks

Bugchaser,
The ZDZ 40 install would be just like my ZDZ 60. I posted picture earlier in this thread. You will be required to build a seperate box and mount it to the firewall. ZDZ excellent choice!!

Finally got around to flying my Mustang today. I have a ZDZ 40 in it with Robart retracts including tailwheel. I set up the control throws and cg as per the instructions. The plane is rock solid in the air and the ZDZ 40 is plenty of power. Landings with full flaps are a breeze with hardly any pitch change with full flaps. Landings are no problem as it just floats in with a little power and no real tendancy to nose over. Good airplane and engine combination and I didn't have to add any weight. Don

Does anyone know if the BME 50 would fit well in the TP P51?

Asanders congratulations on first flight. How much did the airplane weigh and did you put in retracts?
