My plane is the ARF version which was weathered and then sprayed with a satin fuel proofer to preserve the finish by a friend of mine.
My is powered by a Zenoah 38cc and is adequately powered. I use this in flying competitions in the UK. Cheers Richard.

Great thread guys. Just looking for a little advise on what the opinion is out there on firewall for this plane. I have the RTC version and planning to go with a 50 - 60cc gasser. When I look on the inside of the firewall I see some plywood on the two sides but all around it is bala. Just wondering if I should beef it up some perhaps tie it into the airframe a bit stronger with glass or additional plywood. Any suggestions would be great. Thx

I have the ARF version with a Taurus 52cc engine and thought that some additional support would be good. I added reinforcement using heavy weight fiberglass cloth with epoxy. I used several layers of cloth overlapped in different directions. But remember that this particular bird usually comes out nose heavy, so whatever is added will have to be counterbalanced with weight in the tail. I put one of my receiver batteries in the tail behind the tail wheel and the other one in the air scoop behind the wing.

I had to do a lot for cooling, unlike a DA 50 or the like. With these engines the cylinder portion is not what overheats, it's the crankcase. I installed the fan and shroud and also had to make cowl flaps to keep mine from overheating. I also found it helps to set the mixture quite a bit richer than usual.

hi guys, great thread

i have the arc version and i'am battleing with myself on two schemes.
i don't want to glass and paint no very good at it, so i have narrowed it down to the OLD CROW ORIGINAL OLIVE DRAB PAINT SCHEME that i would do with solartex/worldtex fabric with clear over it, or the RED DOG SCHEME that would be done in crome ultracote and brushed with 0 stell wool. wich one would look more realistic? i like both, opinions are welcome!

THANK, BRAD

Brad, this is exactly the same issue I'm battling with, but I'm planning Flite Metal for mine, if I decide to go that way.

Brad this is the colors that I'm going with. This is about the fourth time that I've had to repaint the nose cause just about every time some of the tape pulls off a little here or there. I'm going to try one more time then I just don't know what I'm going to do maybe vinal tape. Or maybe I should go with the colors of the third photo?
