I posted this in the Giant Scale Forum but it looks like it should be here.
I am getting ready to start building a Ziroli and have a few questions for the guys that have built one.

Here's what I have so far
Ziroli glass fuse with an Aeroworks wood kit
3W 70i for power with 6" Tru Turn spinner
Serra Percision retracts with 6" Glennis wheels
Servos will be Airtronic 110oz servos

So here's my questions
I want to build the wing in three sections what size wing tube should I use or should I do it another way.

I am considering a Killer cockpit any other choices out there.

Sliding canopy info needed.

Thanks for any input
Tom Marszalec

Tom,
I used 1" aluminum tubing for wing tube on my Ziroli P-51. It's more than adequate. A three piece wing is definitly the way to go for ease of transport and assembly. I too use a 3W-70 for power. It is a perfect powerplant for the airframe. The muffler is a pitts type canister, which fits neatly behind the engine. The only visable portion of the engine outside the cowl is the outer 1/3 of the sparkplug cap. I built a manual sliding canopy for my Mustang, but I built a wood fuselage. My techniques could be modified for a glass fuse, I imagine. You will need to build a frame for the sliding prtion of the canopy to provide the requsite stiffness, and three tracks for the frame to slide upon. The tracks can be made of square brass tubing wit a groove cut through one side, with plastic or brass sliders nested inside the tubing for the frame to attach to.
The Ziroli P-51 is a great flying plane, and well worh the effort involved in building. You won't be dissapointed! Let me know if you have any further questions.
