Yes, I hate the pipe on the X. The biggest problem is that when you stand the truck on it's tail, the pipe will get shoved into the dirt and it kills the engine. I actually took it off and ran a silicon elbow coupler from the header, then just put a deflector inside the coupler. Perfect fit! I then "bolted" a air fitting into the coupler. Believe it or not, it is not much louder than stock and the departure angles are great!!! I have not experienced any negative affects with this set up and the back pressure is still good for starting. Performance is even better as well. The X comes with a muffler. It's not even a tuned pipe at all. The muffler just hindered good exhaust flow and this little mod just frees it up a bit. Awesome!

I doubt them, they can crawl .... yes, but nothing at all like an electric car. They seem cool to bash around and do some messing around crawling. But if you want a really serious crawler get an electric plain and simple. Dirk get some vids of your X-Factor, that is the sweetest X-Factor I have ever seen. Great work.

Just a question Dirk, did you base your truck off of the MudCow? It has teh exact same body and color scheme. Lol just wondering, with the yellow and black CJ8 body with red links. And rock racing is... well hauling ass over rocks? Hmmm seems boring :-P

OK i started on the rock crawler tonight...lol...how'd i get hooked into this?

Anyway i know electric seems to be the best way to go for crawlin but i just want to have some fun(not compete) and i already have a X-factor,so i did a little work on the suspension tonight(and changed the body to this 50's chevy )

I lightened up the shock oil...changed to lighter springs....and removed the sway bars.

Any of you exp. crawlers have any sug's on what else i should/can do to help get more articulation or just any other advice on what else to mod/do?

Hmm soft springs and light oil? Why would you do that? Then your wheel just drops into a hole and you get stuck, or you will torque flex and flip, you don't need super soft springs.

Hey Inv3ctiv3...i just realized that you are the one with that awsome clod. First off Very nice truck man i really like the work you have put into it!

Secondly....those angled 4-link bars that you have on your truck...does that help out the articulation in some way? I am a welder/fabricator by trade and was considering making some custom bars/cantilevers of my own and would appreciate any advice you can give me....by the looks of your truck you know about which you speak!

You should not really go back to stock, I was just saying you don't want TOO soft otherwise it will cause problems. And those bent links help easily fit 550 size motors (Magnetic Mayhems) and the top link clears the bottom easier when bent. But I don't know if it will help with the X-Factor.... Sometime shaft driven trucks are limited in articulation due the the shafts binding and when the truck articulates it pushes the outdrive and shaft together... I don't have a shaft driven truck or a X-Factor so I am not sure on bent links for them.

Thanks man!...i was just over at clodtalk for the first time a second ago.....hmmm could another clod be in my future..lol. I think if i get this x-factor out and do some crawlin and like it then i may just buy a clod again. I used to have a clod w/ESP clodIV chassis and it was a great truck. Might have to start lookin again real soon.
