Hae a look at FMS (Flight Model Simulator), it is available for free, and there are a couple of vendors selling the FMS Interfaces.

Follow the FMS link on my homepage, and have a look at my Interface Vendor links.

None of them will be very good with the keyboard, but get the fms an an interface an you ll be surprised how good it is for a freebie. Its the only sim that i use actually. Is it as good as Realflight? NO but a lot cheaper.

the best place for FMS models is a Germen site called:

www.rc-sim.de
click on downloads
click on Download
click on FMS
click on FMS Flugzeuge
you will now be on pages and pages of models for FMS

Cliff,
PRE-Flight is no longer free--they've disabled support for TX interfaces in their latest version. To control the sim with your transmitter, you have to buy the "full" version.

Yup I just discovered this the other day - luckily for me I still have the install file for V1.95 where multi-axis was possible so I'm just going to wind back from 2.x but it's a bit of a shame they have had to do this to try and cover development costs. As I told the author a better business model would have been to continue to supply the sim for free but then charge people for the "must have" models (like a Raptor or a Corona in the heli side of things).

I've just taken delivery of the PreFlightSim interface cable and CD ROM. I had been using the free download software with the keyboard for a few days, but it, like most things (except typing) operated from the keyboard, isn't satisfactory.

Now with my JR Tx plugged into the computer, it's about as good as it can be I think. The interface cable and CD ROM cost about US$45 + 5 delivery which is pretty good value.

I've tried RealFlight down at the local hobby shop, and my opinion is that this at least as good. I'm only a beginner in RC, but have been flying full scale sims for 25 years.

I downloaded the preflight sim from the website. I am trying to get this software working with the Keyboard. I am having trouble, I cannot see the screen, all I can see is black screen. I can hear the sound, but no video. Please help with any tips. I reset the software several times, downloaded the most recent DirtectX 9.0B software.... still having problems.

Did you download FMS yet? http://n.ethz.ch/student/mmoeller/fms/index_e.html is the homepage for it. With a USB cable for my JR radio it's very nice! I've got like 700 planes for it, but I like the original SuperCub that comes with it the best so far. - Joe

JapanFlyer,
For almost the same price, $49 + $9 shipping to Japan, you could have ordered a USB interface from www.milehighwings.com, which comes with PRE-Flight sim too (the previous version, which supports all proportional channels, not just 2).
The main advantage of MileHighWings interface is that it is supported by all simularots accepting joystick input (RealFlight G2-Interlink is not one of them as it can't be controlled by joystick, only by its Interlink controller).
Just my 2 cents...

Nope you can use a joystick too. In fact even if you later get a Tx the best way to interface it is to get an interface that just makes it appear as a joystick anyway then it works with all the sims and most other PC "games" programs too.
