There is a mod to the AIPTEK camera that eliminates the onboard batteries, the need for a shutter servo, and the need to take a photo at least every minute.

The camera keeps "timing out" and shutting itself off after one or two pictures.....

The camera has an auto off feature to save the batteries. It shuts off after about 58 seconds of inactivity.
There is a modification that taps into the usb port to trick the camera into staying on. I havent done this yet. I just take lots of pictures whether I am ready to take one or not. You can delete the ones you dont like and go take some more. If yours is doing something different than this then there is a problem. Take it back.

If you power the camera via the USB port it will not time out. Check out http://www.rc-cam.com/camman.htm there are plans for a single chip that can fit in the camera that will turn the camera on if it enters the sleep mode and instructions on how to modify the camera to power it off your flight pack.
