Status: offline 		It's a Wells Cargo 6X12. I had them build it with an additional 6" of height to make it 6' inside. This way I can stand up in it. Nice when it starts raining while I'm at the field. Other options are electric brakes, a spare tire and a roof vent. I leave my planes in the trailer all summer long. The night before I go flying I charge them inside the trailer and the next day just hook up and go fly. When I come home I park the trailer and I'm done. It's nice not to have to do all of the in-and-out bringing the planes in the house .

I was just having a talk with a buddy that owns a trailer similar to mine (6 x 12 Wells Cargo) and he told me of an unfortunate event.

Seems he and another fella were heading to an event in Redmond Oregon with their models in the trailer. One of the models was up on a shelf tied down with bungy cord.

At some point, it bounced and broke loose causing it to roll forward off the slelf. It broke the stringers on the bottom of the model and fortunately did not snap the model in half!!

So, after some hasty repairs, it was flown all weekend. But the lesson here is to be sure and have a back up restraint system. I will post a photo of my solution to this in the next day or so.

What I have done is incorporated the use of plastic cable ties to my system as a backup. I have installed eyebolts and now tie down the main gear and the tail. Plastic ties are cheap and for the cost of these models, it's worth the extra cost.

I may come up with a better, reusable method, but for now this works great.

I have a 7'x20' Wells Cargo that I haul all over the country to jet flys. Mine has 3'x7' shelves made up of 1x2 steel tubing. To that I havve attached a piece of 3/8" plywood, then a 2" thick piece of foam rubber. We tie our planes down with 2" wide velcro. There is a strip of it attached to the underside of the shelf and we simply loop the velcro over the top. I have NEVER had a model come loose using this system. And if you feel you must have a secondary restraint it can be in the form of one more piece of velcro looped over the top.

I like to see what others have set up for transport. I have a few others in my area that will post photos soon.

I sure wish the weather would cooperate!! I would love to get out and use some of these toys!!!

Status: offline 		OK I finely got the trailer and have a skeleton. So far all I have tied up in this $140 which includes trailer $50, angle iron $40, paint $50 and a good 10 hours in one day.

The trailer is a bolt together tilting trailer which comes with only 8" wheels I will try to upgrade these to 12" first chance I get.

One problem I am running across thus far is mounting a tongue jack for the trailer. The door I am sure is going to be a challenge as well.

This trailer measures at 4' X 8' X 5' 1/2" I was lucky enough that my dad had all of the welding and cutting equipment.

All it needs now is wood a couple coats of paint (white) and a configuration as to how I will carry the planes.
