I made a thread this Spring on how I outfitted my box trailer [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_4174111/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm]here.[/link]
I you were thinking about insulating your roof, my plan is hard to beat. It looks about as
good as your going to get...and it was inexpensive and easy to do. There is also a pretty
neat way to secure your planes to the walls....[sm=thumbup.gif]
All the roofing stuff came from Home Depot, all the plane mounting stuff came from True Value.
Enjoy,
Flyboy Dave. [sm=regular_smile.gif]

Its 18 feet long but only 6 wide and 6 high.. Also I'm making it as a toy hauler without the cost of expensive toy haulers. Bath room, shower toilet, and such, but you gave a bunch of ideas , mostly about the ceiling which was on my mind also.
Thanks

...yer' welcome, Roger.
Yes....everyone has there own ideas about the interior, but the roofs are mostly
all the same, and they really should be insulated, or it will get like an oven in there.
They have a rubber coating that you can roll on to the exterior of the roof that is
supposed to reflect some heat, and seal the roof against water leakage as well....
but with the insulation I have, I didn't need the additional help from the rubber sealant.
I live in the desert, and it gets hot here....but I found that if I crack open the top roof vent
a couple inches in the summer, it doesn't get above 80 degrees in there. The styrofoam
insulation worked out superbly.

I bought a Featherlight 10' V-nose which makes it about 12' long. I made the plane and wing holders removeable so I can use it for other stuff also. It takes about 10 min. to take everything down. Works great for me!![8D]

I sold my first trailer, a 5x8 Cargo Craft a few months ago. My wife and I bought our first house in the meantime, and it's taken up a BUNCH of my flying time this summer. But, finally, about a month ago, I picked up a new trailer for my planes. Cargo Craft 6x10 with a side door and rear ramp door. Havent done a whole lot to it yet, but I've got some really good ideas from all you guys' posts.

Anyone that has mounted a tounge box to the front of their trailer, what did you use to mount it? A few self tapping screws thru the bottom of it into the frame with some fender washers or?

RE: Photos Of Trailer Interior Layout, Please Post Yours Too!!
Let me see if I can post my pictures of my trailer. It is a 12x7 and I use it for other tasks other than airplanes, so I had to come up with a way to be able to have a shelf or platform and also have the full use of the trailer to be able to carry big things. First I used 2x2's to use as ledgers on each side of the inside and simply layed plywood on top of them with more 2x2's for cross support. That works, but it took to much effort to break it down and put back together.
I though that I could use simple door hinges and rip down a couple of pieces of plywood so that I could use the 8' length and have the split in the middle of the trailer. For support this time I bought E-channel and screwed them along where I had the 2x2's previously. Mounted in the e-channels are the 2x4 holders, or what ever you call them. This system seems to work at very well, as for how to keep the plywood halves in the up position I drilled through the plywood and tapped into the top part of the inside of the trailer so I could use regular nylon wing bolts to hold it in the up position. Then I can just remove the 2x4 supports and I have the open cargo trailer again
As you can see this works very well and I have not had any problems with it.

"HELP" Need some advice. I have one of those silver tarps and wish to cover my V-nose, 10ft trailer for the winter. Will my trailer become unhealthy due to mold or mildew being wrapped up by this tarp for the winter? Thanks for any advice or words of wisdom. In addition to covering it with the tarp, I have raised the trailer a couple of inches off the ground to get the wheels off the pavement. Earlier, I followed advice given and installed aluminum backed insulation and two solar powered vents in the ceiling. Now I have to decide on how to install a second level shelf in the trailer. Thanks again. Chic

IMHO Cargo trailers are made to be outdoors, VA winter is not that bad(I lived there 4 years), Here in TX I leave my planes in the trailer 365 days a year. The solar vents is an excellent addition, It will keep the inside refreshed, personally I wouldn't worry about a tarp. If you really want to cover it they sell a easy up PVC pipe and tarp carport with a zipper front sides and top at Sams club for around $150.

I don't cover mine during the winter. As dntmn said these trailers were made to be outside all of the time. My opinion is you would stop air flow around and inside the trailer trapping water from snow and rain. In that case you could create problems. If you want to keep snow and rain off the trailer I would recommend the carport tarps mentioned above.
Additionally, the tarp flapping or moving with the wind will scratch or at least dull the paint in places on the trailer.

If I may add this , also crank up the front so no water will stay on the roof..

I'm going to run an electric space heater in my trailer every 2-3 weeks for a couple
hours, just to keep it dried-up in there.

Great advice, many thanks, will take the tarp off this afternoon. Will also tilt the trailer to achieve run-off. Knowing me, I may not use the space heater, I might forget it and cook the whole thing. Smile. Thanks again guys. Chic

OK, now that the tarp is off, I have a silly question to ask since I'm not familiar with trailers. I am thinking I want to install E-Track but looking at the walls of the trailer, please give me an idea of how one goes about installing the horizontal E-Track properly. Thanks again. Chic
