Roger.
Do you have a rough idea of the weight of your trailer and its tongue weight. The reason I ask is, I was thinking of putting a hitch on my Ford Explorer in order to have it available as an alternative to towing with my full size Ford E150 conversion van. The Explorer specs are similar to your Kia. My 6x6.5x12 V-nose weighs about 2,100 lbs loaded with a hitch weight of about 280 (13%).

My trailer weighs 3400 lbs empty and the tongue weight is about 200 lbs.
My Kia is rated to tow 5000 lbs with a tongue weight of 500 lbs I think;
Of course, it all depends how you distribute the weight in the trailer for proper tongue weight.

My trailer serves as a second workshop, planes stay in all of the time except when being worked on. Heated in the winter time and fan for air circulation in the summer. Certainly saves on the hangar rash.

I've seen pictures of your trailer and it must be one of the nicest I have seen so far, you should post pictures again...

I've read in some other forums that Lithium ion batteries have a much shortened life when left in hot trailers over a season or two. Just something to keep an eye on if you are going to do it. I leave my planes in my trailer too but my trailer stays in my temperature controlled garage .

SORRY about that Marty I didnt know how to size the pics so Ill redo them. I didnt mean to sound smart about leaving the planes in the trailers but I live in Florida and unless you have AC 24 7 your mono cote will be history!!! Im just starting out on rc about a year now,and going to the field with planes in the back of a truck is a real pain we get alot of rain. Cant use a topper cause Im a commercial fisherman and need my truck open for stone crab traps,bait fish ,ice etc so a top would not work for me. I found this 6x10 wells cargo with tor and brakes for $1,250 and couldnt pass it up.After looking at the other trailers I am going to go with the side racks. I have heavy fish net one foot from the roof that will also hold wings nicely also 110 hookup with outside and inside plug ,generater on front when I need it Marine 12 volt bat for rechargeing planes at the feild. I never leave my planes charge overnight in the trailer fires can happen when you least expect them I dont take the chance..It does look small but not when you go in I can put my 27%yak 54,60 twist,60 cub,40 nexstar,filton byp,and two other electrics with all my gear very easly. Unless your really big into going all over the states etc and staying over a smaller trailer is the best for me.these pics come out better. HAY Im just glad I got a trailer LOL

Hey guys! I found a great little add on for our trailers. Remote controlled driving lamps from Wal-Mart! Just mount them as back up lights, and when you are backing in after a long days flying and it's too dark to see, just push a button on the included clicker and VIOLA! I don't mean to sound like a salesman for these things, but for 39 bucks, it's worth it to not hit something. Will post picture of the installation soon.

My 6x12' United Trailer, I can put almost 10 models in her plus coolers. She has a 3000lb gross and I figure I'm close to that. The tongue weight is of big concern, I'm running about 420lbs. That should be ok given the 10-15%rule, the car handles well with that weight. It's pretty hard to keep the weight out of the front trailer section with cabinets and batteries. I did add my spare tire to rear roof rack to help shift a aft moment on the cg. I have a counter top area which is great for eating, fixing stuff and kids can keep busy with drawing and such on it. Laptop with a ATT aircard gives me internet service so I can order replacement parts right after the crash. Added tons of LED AA powered lites from KMART and a extra spot lite on side. I'm running 3 deep cycle marine 12 volt batteries in paralell to a 1400watt inverter.
