Check around. By the time you add shipping you can pick one up at a trailer store for less.

Took 15 minutes to install and I now leave my vent open all the time.

Yup, mine was $24.00 at the local RV shop.. I don't work as fast as testfly. It took me 20 minutes. LOL

OK I confess......... I had a ladder on each side of the trailer (Leaning on a towel to protect the trailer) and the wife was a great help in the project. Cost me dinner though.

I finished mine this weekend, then took it to the field for a test drive. I have some fine tuning to do, but I'm happy with the results.

Getting the field battery to charge from the tow vehicle proved to be a challenge. I wasn't getting enough juice through the 4-pin connector, so I switched to the 7-pin plug that RVs use. Power was run from the interior light in my topper. I'm charging at 13.4 volts, now.

The battery is a deep cycle, marine variety. It has a quick disconnect, so it can easily be removed for field us. It, along with a small invertor, are mounted in a wheeled flight box. This makes it easy to roll out to the flight line.

If it stops raining, I'll get some pics, including the mounted Maxair unit.

"Yes" we all like pictures Tom.

Just a quick update on my setup.
I have added 2 Fire Extinguishers (one near each door) and two smoke alarms. (one on the ceiling above the chargers and one on the wall of the charging area)

I have a large charging area in my trailer. I charge lipo as well as nicad and nimh batteries. I have the lipo charges on one shelf and the nicad / nimh on another. This to help prevent charging a battery on the wrong setting.

If something goes wrong I expect everyone at the field will know it.
Them smoke alarms are pretty loud.

The safety equipment is a great idea. I'll have to add them to my list. Thanks !!!

As I use nicads, I have just two charging stations. One (110V) for home use, and a field charger. Both are mounted together, on a shelf above the battery.

bolar-the name of the vents are Maxxair. Most RV supplys have them. They also have a web site www.maxxair.com

Great trailers guys! I am getting my 14' V-nose wells cargo TC Trecker rigged up(well actually still planning). Seeing what you all have done has ruined me! There is just too many options for interior design. I have been looking for those side vents that go in the front and back. I have not any luck finding them, can someone let me know where I can get some of them. I would rather have the regular roof vents but they dont recommend them due the flat roof design.

Thanks
Keith

I have 3 vents on the roof of my motor home and it has a flat roof. I would check with an other dealer.

The roof vents alone, don't seem to do the trick. Air can get out, but can't get in, allowing for good circulation. I'd like to find some side venting, too.

I have seen Flow Thru Side vents on some trailers, Wells Cargo trailers offer them as an option; they are available on this web site:

Thanks- guys

- I FLY,,I agree with you also, my RV trailer had them on a flat roof also, although it was a rubber roof. I personally dont see why some high grade silicon sealant could not prevent a leak.

- Tom,, we think a lot alike,,LOL,, My goal is to keep my planes onboard and I dont want to fry them here in the heat of the day!

- Das,, Thanks, those are very similar to the ones I have been seeing around, and a reasonable price also!

Does anybody else have the roof vents on their flat metal roof trailer, and/or tips and tricks to installing them in a leak proof manner?

FlyingFart, the motorcycle package of the Tacker has the side vents available. I'm sure they would be able to incorporate them in what ever order you make. Have you considered the Tote? You can get about any option you want with them. The trailer weights appear to be similar if that's a consideration.

bolar,,I have already bought the trailer and I have asked the dealer to find me some vents, just figured I would do it myself instead of waiting on them.
I am still thinking roof vents also.

The place Testfly posted has roof vents, http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/rv-vents-covers-vent-parts-1.htm#Roof%20Vents . I don't know if you could get them cheaper locally at a trailer/RV store. Post some pictures when you get a chance.

Wells Cargo showes the roof vents as an option on their web page.

http://www.wellscargo.com/wells/model.html?model=3

A roof vent installed correctly will not leak.

I have attached a few pictures of my trailer. As you can see almost any thing can be done with a Utility trailer.
Find a good dealer that will work with you. My trailer was built by Forest River and they installed most of the options.

Ace Trailer Sales

http://www.acetraileroregon.com/

I am not connected with any of the above companies.
