Well guys. It has been a while since I posted here. And for good reason :-)!
I have updated my 6X12 trailer as I ran out of room in it.

I am about 70% complete on the 8.5 X 20 I am moving up to.

I had the trailer custom built with a generator door and 1) 4' door on the right side and 1) 4' door on the left side.
It also has the V nose with tripple tongue and double doors at the rear.
I will have AC and onboard power (gas and 6200 watts).
The generator will be on slides and when running it will be on the outside of the box shown in some of the images.
Painted walls, Vinyl floor, R5 in the roof foil back and all seams foil taped.
3) T8 four bulb light fixtures will offer a lot of light.

Below are a few images as I got started on it.
I will post updated images in the next 3 to 4 days.

No pictures yet but the AC is in, Wiring is complete, Floor is done and there are planes being mounted inside now.

Are those fluorescent light fixtures on the ceiling? Looks like it will be bright enough. Very nice, how does the double axle ride?

The new trailer (8.5 X 20 ) is almost ready for it's first pull to the flying field.

Here is a look at my setup one area at a time.
I won't go into a lot of detail as the pictures will say a lot.
But, if you have any questions just ask.

I would like to make 2 things very clear!

First, NO I did not win the lottery.

Second, Everything you will see here has been done at least twice, as things change when you think you know what you want and the GREAT FRIEND that is helping you (in my case, my friend Wayne who does not even own a RC model mind you) seams to come up with a better idea every now and then.

With that said enjoy the pictures.

First up is the battery Rack.

Over two years ago I started converting all of my glow models to electric. Long story short I enjoy flying. But, don't like to clean up after a full day of flying. So, I now fly all electric models both small and large and really do enjoy it! For this reason I have a lot of lipo batteries. I store from 4 to 12 (depending on size) in $20.00 safes I line with bed foam. I figure they are good enough to keep fire out, they should keep fire in. Below is a look at the battery rack I designed and built to hold my battery cases (safes).

BTW That is Wayne finishing the edging on the battery rack. The deal was, I design and build it and he trim it out. Long story short here, he had another idea and we tried it. But, I was not happy with it. So, I came up with the rack design and we now agree it was worth the effort and the fight to build it.

The parts for the rack were designed in my CAD program and cut on the CNC.
Holes were drilled with a .125" bit and the parts cut using a .250 bit.
Cut time was 1 hour with 1 bit change.

The ceiling was insulated with R5. (foil backed from Home depot) All seams were taped with foil tape. Then covered with Coraplast and trimmed with metal. White (rather than gray) PVC trims the ceiling at the wall and also carries power around the trailer.
The AC (1350 BTU also with heat) has been mounted. The small fridge keeps lunch and drinks cold. (And yes the goodies I hide from the wife as well :-)

You might also note the top shelf idea. (Another Wayne idea) Added only after having mounting planes and wings on 2 walls and then having to lower them to make room for the shelves. (And I admit, it is a Great Idea to have the top shelf.)
The shelf was not cut short over the fridge. That one is 12' and goes all the way to the back door. I am not sure if I will cut it back to the edge of the fridge or add to it and come out to the outside edge of the fridge. Or who knows, maybe Wayne will come up with another good idea. <grin>

6200 watts of AC Power provides power if I pull to a field without power.

The setup here is pretty simple.
The generator sits in a tray that has been mounted to slides. ( slides rated at 500 lb load)
The 10 ga. cord brings power from the source to the panel box inside the trailer.
The generator door must be open and the generator pulled outside the box when running.
I plan a slide out shelf just above the generator to hold the cord and other related items.

500 lb rated Slides for the generator, $100.00 to my door.
400 lb rated Slides for the top shelf $53.20 to my door. (ebay)

Here is a look at work in progress. Never mind the mess. It is the planes you should be looking at. :-)
Today is day # 35 of this project and I think we should be real close to being able to make that first pull to the field on Sunday.

Nice, nice setup!  Interesting how you stored your wings next to the C-130.  I have to ask, what do you do with the sewing machine?

The wings set over dowels and then on a foam pad. They lean toward the leading edge which keeps them inside the PVC padded rails.
I will post a few more pictures of this for review.

As for the sewing machine,
I sew parachutes for my RC Paraplane design. I have been at it 20 years this year and still enjoy every test flight.

You guys are all WAY out of my league, but since I got some good ideas from this thread, I figured I should post some pics of my own trailer.  I'm pretty much a profile pilot, so there are no accommodations for fatties here.    I do have one or two, but they haven't seen airtime in years.

It's equipped with a 125 amp-hour deep cycle battery, 4 charge outlets fed by 12 gauge wire, 4 55-watt "driving lights" I found at Wal-Mart and about 50 watts worth of LED's in the ceiling.  I also installed an alarm system since I live in an apartment complex and am a little nervous about leaving it unattended.

Hello,

Here are a few pictures of my 7 X 12 Transhaul.  I wanted a trailer that could haul both my airplanes and still be suitable for overnight camping at flyins.  A tall order for a 7X12 but thanks to this forum I've been able to implement some great ideas!  I'll be sure to post more as the "outfitting" continues.  Thanks again for all the help!!

You can see I have a lot of smal and large storage areas. One neat storage item I found was at Wal-mart. It is a rack of drawers that come with wheels. They have a 7 drawer and a 5 drawer set. (I did not use the wheels)  I was sure to get the ones that would fit together. And by doing so I was able to place the drawers in the order I wanted as well as come up with the height I needed. You can review pictures I posted already to see what I mean. I should note that I did screw the drawer frames to the wall to hold them in place. I also added the simple twist lock on the front of each drawer.

Just sold trailer #7 and ordered #8.  I started with a homebuilt 4'x8'x16" homebuilt, and the last one was a 6x10 Aztec.  I was going to get a large tandem so I could haul our motorcycles if the urge came over me, but there were several factors that changed my mind.  1) The parking area for my "airplane" trailer is about 9.5' wide.  Most 7-8' wide trailers are ~8.5' wide, which leaves very little room when parking or trying to walk around it.  2) I like the increased visibility around a 6' wide. 3) Less drag = better fuel economy. 4) Single axles are much easier to move, especially by hand. 5) Lighter weight - tows easier, moves easier.  6) If I decide I need an enclosed motorcycle trailer, I'll buy one and not have the hassle of refitting.

That decision made, I went shopping.  Local dealers carry Haulmark, Carson, Interstate, Wells Cargo, and Pace American brands.  The Haulmark, Pace and Wells Cargo (Road Force) are so similar as to be interchangable, and the Carson and Interstate are comparable to each other.  I wanted a V-nose (available in all 5 brands) flat top (Haulmark, Pace, and Wells Cargo Road Force) single torsion axle with barn doors in back and side doors on both sides.  The Haulmark, Wells and local Pace dealers were all in a $400 spread on comparably equipped trailers.  I shopped around a bit and ended up saving about $1400 by ordering through a dealer 100 miles up the road.  Ended up going with a Pace Journey 6x14 V-nose with a couple of upgrades (torsion axle, heavier floor, sidewall lining, extra doors, extra lights and switches, a foot of extra height, vents, corner post jacks).  Should be here the week of June 8th.

I plan on stealing lots of ideas off this thread, and will share photos of the ideas I've come up with on my own.  I should be posting again by June 15th!

Trent
