I have been researching the Li-Poly Batteries and would like to find out what recommendations for the Li-Poly packs would work best with the Astroflight (010 motor) 801 G motor gearbox combination. I am flying a 16 oz. custom built plane and using a 9x6E prop. What battery pack or combination will protect my gear and give me the best flight time and power to weight ratio?

Thanks for the help

Check out how many amps your speedcontroller can handle and checkout with cells to buy after that.

JJ,

The "best" pack must be defined by you. There are many alternatives, some favor weight, others favor duration and there is pricing to consider. Basically, you need to deliver 6amps continuous and 9-10amps peak for the Astro Flight 010 motor.

Here are a few examples that will work great with your setup. I have the same 801G system with a 9x6 prop in my 13oz Akro Champion.

1) A 3-cell Kokam 1500HD pack sold many places including Hobby Lobby. It weighs 4oz, costs $58.60 and has a 1500mAh capacity. It can deliver 9amps continuous and 12amps peak.

2) A 3s2p Kokam 340SHC pack from Bishop Power Products. This pack weighs only 2.4oz and it can deliver 12amps continuous for a duration of 680mAh. The cost is $70.

There are many more examples and different manufacturers like E-tec and Thunderpower. Like jacs already suggested, the key thing to know is your current need and then consider the weight, duration, and cost in whatever order your priorities are.

Good luck!

I use the Et 1200 from www.lightflightrc.com with my Astro 010 and save
about $7.00.
My Et 1200 and the Kokam 1500 fly about the same time in my Hellcat.
