Somebody help me
I bought the colco thunderbird of ebay set it up and after a few hundred crashes the tail rotor stopped working and the main rotor became eratic.
Sent it back and the guy replaced it (would you believe)
Just got a replacement and the same things happened after only 3 batt charges and no real impact,no tail rottor and main rotor eratic
Thanks if you can help

I signed up just to help some of you micro heli pilots, First of all There is nothing wrong with the tbird, purchased hummingbird, dragonfly and a thunderbird, most error is due to buyer setup, balance your bird perfectly and they all fly right out of the box.
the only upgrade I made on all three were the carbon fiber rotor and tail , and a roto head stiffner, these big boy toys work great if set up correctly( I mean Balance) aerodynamically a helicopter is not suppose to fly , thats why they take so much work. the best carbon blades I found to work excellent are the MS for the hornet.
has anyone tried the direct drive rear rotor assy. yet if so let me know that is the next test I'm doing on these 3 choppers
P.S. if yor setup is excellent you won't fry the stock tail motor after 20 flights
Could you explain what you mean or how you go about setting the bird up correctly?

The thunder bird is lousy. I managed to hover it above 1 inch after alot of adjustment and that's all it can go. I believed it was the battery and I also changed the main motor. The tail motor was changed many time because it gets burnt very easy. I wonder why too. As for the battery, it gets real hot after awhile of charging. Anybody can tell me why? I got it from HK at 130US. I wonder the Rx and Tx can be used in Zap400. Can someone tell me?

I've got a tbird too. Doesn't fly. But it sure does slide left a lot . Go here for lots of info. on this critter. " http://www.rotory.com/ubbthreads/dosearch.php ". Also go here " http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_2071999/mpage_3/tm.htm# ". This guy went to a direct drive tail motor with a lipo bat. He says it changed his life. As far as your bat getting hot, the nimh does get hot if you over charge. You might consider a bat charger like the GWS.

For what it's worth I have been selling these things since January. The first shipment was great but as some of you have said, I had several from the second batch to burn out motors. I had a few controllers to go out also. Gain can fix the motor issue to a degree, just don't adjust the screw too far to the left. I did returns and lost a few hundred dollars on postage and other expenses.

I have been communicating what I found to the supplier who forwarded them to the manufacturer. My last email from the supplier said the manufacturer had found a design flaw in the controller that was causing the motors to burn out. They are supposedly redesigning the controller at this time. I intend to be the guinea pig for the first new controllers to see if they are telling the truth. I have some copters to repair and I intend to use the new controllers in them when they are ready.
