Hi there all,

I have just recently purchased and waiting for a Thunder Bird CLC II from Colco. I wanted to know if anybody else has one and how they found it? I wanted to put a LiPo Battery in it though the heli runs on 9.6v. Would i need a 2C or a 3C? could somebody out there help me with these questions.

The Colco "6-Channel" is READY for the extra channels. It says this in the ad, or at least the one I saw!
I have one on the way right now from Hong Kong (HKeToys $219.00 US), so I'll let you know how it works out!

As for the bird not flying.... are you SURE that you have everything SET UP properly?
Helis ARE NOT like fixed wing aircraft, there are dynamic conditions that you could only (and most EXPERTS do, based on empirical evidence) guess what the hell is going on!

Hopefully, when I get mine, I can get it set up properly... "Others have, why can't we?"

I have seen deadbenches one. I am not too impressed with the build of colco. I would rate it just under the skylark in flyability.

to give you an idea on my experience with micros.....
I have owned a skylark ..that I had to mostly convert to Feda dragonfly to get it to fly,
An XRB ---great learning aircraft!
Feda dragonfly..great basic machine well made ( comparable to the century origional and the new GWS model)
I also have built a hornet with a direct drive tail motor (For half the cost of the kit version)
and I am currently designing and building a flybarless CP upgrades for the feda main frame...its only experimental at this stage.

But colco has some good points ...the landing gear is great ...I have pinched it and modified it to work on the feda, and the slip tail cluch system for the colco is also very good ...( also pinched that one too

The colco links seem very tight and not very well compatable with the other parts................ get the head moving freely ...ditch the main blades ( the ones that I have seen are very soft and are warped!!) and get a set of hornet FP blades, head stifner, and a 370 motor and you migh be able to get this bird to hover nicely.

Just my two cents worth from the experience that i have had.

Ps I am sure that there might be a good colco model out there somwhere but I have yet to see one in my travels. ppl I know have taken the heli back to exchange it for another heli brand

Cheers all

Just found out the bad news about the Colco Thunderbird concept II they only come in 35mzh
for the transmitter and receiver, these will not work in the U.S. they would pick up to much interference. I'm glad I found out in time to cancel my order, before anyone orders one check into it.

I just received my Colco concept II Thunderbird from RC mart and after 2 days of working with it, I got it to hover fairly steady. Looks to me it's gona take some days to get this bird to fly. I am please with it, but I have broken the tail blade already, stupid me thinking the dinning room was big enough to train. Well I'm down for 10 days now until parts arrive, but I'll keep ya posted on my progress. I did move the battery way forward to get the balance better. I like the 9.6 battery cause I think once I get this down will get a nice flight time out of it.

ps; will be taking transmitter to local hobby shop. person there is going to tell me if it's a 6 ch like it supposed to be. Will fight rcmart if it's not.

Good luck everyone.

it's been 3 days since receive my Colco thunderbird. I am still learning ,but am able to get it to hover for about 10 seconds 1 inch off the floor. So I'm still convinces that with lots of pratice this bird will fly steady.

Good luck again jjp
