I converted a 13'x15' upstairs room for my shop (I'm not married ). I built benches on 3 walls, with the bench in the back of the picture (out of sight) being a 4'x8' bench set out far enough from the wall for rear access. I use that bench of assembly of completed components. I store airplanes in all the other upstairs rooms, and in various places downstairs (I'm not married )

I wondered if anyone would notice those Dubro "trees" under there. Those are the two smaller ones. I have a third one that is too tall to go under a bench. I bought them when a local hobby store went out of business and auctioned everything off. Besides a ton of usefull stuff on them, I have more cap screws than you can shake a stick at

Zxxman said:
I may have went to an extreme to support this hobby. I put a 10 x 12 foot addition on to my house as my work room. It has a 13 foot cathedral ceiling with a skylight.
Sorry dude I got you beat in the extreme department. I built a 24'x32' building 3 years ago shelves, counters along 2 walls. I have a 4x8 table on wheels in the center at one end. I also have a 3'x8' glass topped table that I built in the center at the other end. I JUST finished adding another 18'x20' addition and central heat and air to the whole shop as well as a ventilation system for the addition so I can paint. BTW the only space I "share" in the whole joint is a 32"x32" area for the deep freeze. It is modelling heaven and I am lucky I have an understanding wife.

I wonder what percentage of us have televisions in the shop. I have one in mine but try to leave it off in favor of a radio. It seems too be too much of a "time waster" or distraction. Of course thats not to mention the PC that I'm sitting at in the shop right now with a H9 P51 about an hours worth of work away from test flight readiness. :

I agree with Robotech, Tv's are too much of a distraction. Dont get me wrong, I have a 27" in mine and enjoy watching shows people inside the house dont want to watch, as well as catching a Simpsons episode or two while I work.:p

But I still listen to the radio So I can keep my eyes on my work.

Glad to see this has turned out to be good thread. TV's, not in my shop. Even if I had the room I would not want one. If I'm watchin, I'm not building. The wife thought of me this weekend, for a change, he, he! She picked up a big band CD from the WWII era for me to listen to while I build the WWII birds. Much too kool! I did a little bulding in the new shop this weekend. Not sure if the 36" counter tops helped my back problem. I think I am going to need some nice rubber matts to stand on to help as well.
