Hello Does anyone have any idea when Futaba will be coming out with a new Model to replace the 9C series. I would like to have a 9C level radio........but I don't want to purchase......on the tale end of the 9C just before its replacement gets released. The 9C has been out a while........seems likely Futaba will be updating it in the not too distant future.

Anyone have a inside scoop.

Thanks

Zero,
speaking strictly as an educated guess and based upon futaba's history, I wouldnt expect to see a replacement or upgrade to 9C for a while to come. Futaba is not known for upgrading their radios every other year...

I think you can confidently purchase a 9C now, which is a SUPERB radio, without expecting to see it replaced any time soon.

I heard that they're replacing their 9Z with a 12 ch. I wouldn't expect a replacement 9C until a while after the 12 comes out.

I had the 7UHP which was about the same programming as the 8U series for 15 years. The 9C replaced it then and has only been out a couple years. I would not hesitate to buy one. I can't see them making a better radio for a long time.

While I can't speak to the 8U or 9C radios, the 6 channel radio changed twice in about 5 years. It went from the 6X to the 6X's now the new 6E.

I was told that the 6exa didn't replace the 6xas. I would imagine that the 6xas would be first in line for an upgrade. I just bought a 9c without any reservation. I didnt buy the 6xas because I thought that would be upgraded right after I bought it.

The 6EXA did not replace the 6X. They are in completely different leagues. THe 6EXA is ment as an entry-level computer radio. The 6X is far superior.

However, they have had the 6X, then they made the 6X "Super" (6XS)

There was at least a 5-year or so gap between the 6X and the 6X Super systems. Same as with the 8U to 8U Supers.

The 6EX is NOT a replacement for the 6X-series. The 6X has many more functions and programmable mixers. The 6E's mixers are not programmable, but fixed to certain functions. See:

Second the Bruckner.

The 6EXA has two user-programmable mixes.

the 6EXA is the 6X's little brother so to speak.

If I recall correctly, 6EXA has *ONE* programmable mix, which is very limited, with no trim or link options or switch assignability. I don't even remember if it has an on/off switch for the mix at all or if it is a constant ON mix.

It is also far less flexible in many other ways than the 6X Super....from no exponential to no helicopter programming, just for starters.

I.E. junk. Pay the extra $30 and get a better radio like the 6X. Or a little bit more and get the HiTec Eclipse.

3D,
I wouldnt say junk, just less extensive. For someone who just wants a radio that will fly his three flying wing foamies, its ideal. For someone who wants to set up an ultrastick, neither it nor its big brother, 6XS, have enough....

Usually a manufacturer like Futaba will not design a radical new update to one of their better selling models such as the 9C UNLESS another company such as Hitec, JR, or Airtronics came out with a new model that greatly eclipsed the performance and features for the same or less money.

That is market dynamics at work.
