Hello,
I got an old engine from a friend. Got new ring and bearings installed on it. It's smooth and seems to have plenty of compression, although i havent tried turning it many times by hand as it might ruin it. It is a two stroke engine. I am not familier at all with the terminology ( rich, lean, four stroke break-in etc). I dont have a manual to follow the instructions. I want someone to clearly explain how to break-in this "rebuilt" ringed engine. I need to know the initial setting of needle valve, throttle, number of tanks required to break in etc. It's a 40 size OS sr max engine.
Thanks alot

azseattle ....

...you will get a lot of opinions on how to run an engine....

....I'd run it on 15% PowerMaster fuel (a castor blend),
a Fox Miracle Plug, and a 10-8 Master Airscrew prop.

Start and run the motor for a minute or two at half throttle,
let it warm up....then open it up, and run it for 10 mins. at
full throttle....wind it all the way up, and open the main needle
till you hear the motor audibly slow down. (rich) Let it cool
down for about 15 mins., and your ready to fly. Keep the
same rich setting always.....don't lean the motor out for
the last rpm....till after at least 5 tank-fulls.

You're gonna love that engine....

Dave.
