Has anyone heard of this: I have been flying for 20 years and have never heard of this....

I have a Futaba 9C aircraft radio on channel 35, PPM mode receiver 7 channel. One day for no reason the elevator channel quits. I did the standard things swapped servos, extensions, etc. Later I changed to a new PCM receiver, same frequency and the elevators worked but the ailerons stopped working. Again went through the same exercise, changing servos, extensions, etc. Then proceeded to swap transmitters to a PCM/PPM 6AX and the same issues existed. Finally changed the receiver to a generic 4 channel PPM/FM receiver and went to channel 50 on the 6AX transmitter and it all worked…. Now knowing this may be the receiver crystal was at fault, nope! Without going through the normal question answer exercise does anyone have any comments. All scenarios have been played out and even eliminating the servos….. help!!

Great news! Let us know how well it works. I have seen it at tower for $89. Would make no sense to buy a single channel module for $49.

I finally rec. my Futaba 9CAP synthesizer module on 3-15-05...I've been on back order since late Oct. 04...The thing that ticked me off was that Tower kept pushing the delivery date back 2 weeks at a time for almost 5 months...Tower should have told everyone on backorder that it will be 4-5 months ...........Prop

I'm still waiting on mine, though it has been shipped, and mine has been on back order since Jul 04. I got a bone to pick with Tower. How come they shipped yours before mine?

It's about time. Let us know how it works. I'm in the market for a radio, and I've reduced it to the 9C or 9X. The synth module is the only thing tipping me to get the 9C. PEACE.

Just wondering: what is inside the 9c module case? Would it have the same rx crystal that the other receivers use? ( not that I would open the case , just wondering ..)

The new synth module for the Futaba 9C (also compatible with all Futaba radios that use the same TX modules) works as advertised. I've done several range tests at different channels and have always been able to move off well beyond the standard 100'.

NOTE: It has come to light and I can verify it from personal experience; the synth module uses about 20% more power than the crystal modules. Its not a problem for me because I upgraded my TX battery to an 1800mah NIMH.

You hit the nail on the head hilleyja--I routinely plug my father's Hitec Spectra into my 9C's frequency module's place to fly his aircraft with no-ill effects. The only problem with this is the unit is "upside down" when mounted in the 9C --> the decal that is.

If I was shopping for a synth I would compare Hitec versus Futaba prices and simply pick the cheapest one.

This is just a guess!!! Do not be too surprised if the new Futaba sync module is virtually identical to the Hitec Spectrum in ALL respects except the logo on the case.

And the only problem with yuor above statement is using the Hitec Spectrum module in your Futaba is an FCC and AMA violation. AMA is already on record saying your insurance with them is null and void if you are responsible for an accident while using that configuraiton.

The cost of the Futaba Synthensizer is well within market competition with the Hitec Spectra so there should be no reason to use it instead of the Spectra. You only save about $15.00 on the Hitec Spectra over the Futaba Synthesizer.
