Status: offline 		I used to have a 12v 500mA wall wart
charger for my field box battery.

My new charger allows me to select any
charge rate I want. What is the optimum
rate for a 12v 7A gel cell? Still C/10 or
can I bump it up a bit (more like a 1A/hr rate)
w/o killing it.

Status: offline 		What you need is a regulated power supply that maintains a constant voltage=13.8V. That will start off at an amp or so and reduce to a float charge and maintain the battery as an "ever ready".... It worked for me for twelve(12) years and still does.

answer my question.

Actually, I ran my charger on my field box at
about 1A and it automatically tapered down
to 200mA and eventually shoved about 2200mA into the gel cell before finishing.
