Did you attend the Hobby Visions convention? Did you sell your airplane and your other large scale car? Do you plan on street running or going to the 1/4 scale track?

If you want to meet at Dansey's this coming weekend, I can show you may car since I plan on going down there and taking some video from my newly installed in-car wireless camera. I'd do it sooner but the camera needs the light. Then again you may have to show me that light and bucket set-up since I own a T-Maxx with a light kit. Or you can simply purchase some batteries from them and assemble a battery pack and/or ask them to set up your 1/5 scale with batteries and deans connectors for a quick connect/disconnect for charging and set up.

In the meantime, upload a photo of your FG to the other thread.

Opps edit....

They had a few good deals at the show and I really thought about that F1, but I figured that was more of a track only car with a lot of maintenance. Did your FG come with the 4-wheel hydralic brake set up?

Yes, the only large scale RC track is in Boulder City. You may recall that I suggested to you that you try to sell your other car at the Supernationals which was held this past weekend in Boulder City.

I went to the convention as well as the HPI World Challenge. However, the only things that really caught my attention at the convention was that FG F1, a mini-monster crawler, the wireless camera, and a few die cast vehicles--one of which I bought and a couple of others that weren't for sale (one proto-type and one display only). I've since thought about becoming directly involved with FG if the local market could support it. What do you think?

That brake upgrade is $300.00 retail. My FG is also a Sportline but it has the 4-wheel disc brake upgrade. I'm sure you got the Zenoah engine since that California company seemed to push the Zenoah and steer everyone away from the Solo. They actually told me that they wouldn't ship the Solo and advised to run it rich. Then again, the "richer" mixture they suggested was no different from what the 1/4 scale people have advised running the Zenoah. If you notice, I have the Zenoah in my 1/4 scale and the Solo in my 1/5 scale.

I THINK THAT THE ONLY REASON LARGE SCALE IS NOT AS POPULAR HERE IS BECAUSE NO STORES CARRY THEM HERE THAT I KNOW OF. I THINK IF STORES BEGAN TO CARRY THESE ITEMS AND PARTS FOR THEM THIS SCALE WOULD REALLY TAKE OFF ESPECIALLY IF THERE WAS A TRACK FOR IT

I already called Danseys and put one of the employees on notice that I referred someone with a 1/5 scale for some battery help. The owner wasn't there but if you mention the guy with the blue 1/5 scale, they'll know or should know who you are talking about.

As I wrote earlier, I plan to be at Danseys this weekend if you want to check out the battery setup in my 1/5 scale. Since I'll have relatives in town this weekend, I have to plan against ongoing events so there is no firm time set.

Hi Caca4u,

Maybe I can help. The best servo for steering is the Hi-Tec 5735MG, for throttle/brake you can use for example the Hi-Tec 945MG, don't use any digital servo's for these funtions, these servo's won't last long. You can use a 6V battery 1800-3000Mah and don't use an on/off switch, use a gold connector between the battery and the receiver.
I've attached a picture of my car.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me: r.c.modelcar-racing@home.nl

Ropas,

I was just checking out your site the other day. I have a couple of questions: First, I have my batteries set to the side, am using an on/off switch, and am running 3300s. Why do you suggest not using the on/off switch and lower rated batteries or do you mean that it can be run in such a way. I'm assuming that you centered the batteries for weight distribution. I am also wondering if you have a couple of German friends who live here in Las Vegas because I was conversing with someone about FG and was referred to a racer in Holland though I haven't been provided with the email address yet.

Hi,

You can use the 3300Mah batteries also, the higher the better. We don't recommend an on/off switch because many problems are caused by a switch. You can use one but it has be a good quality water tight switch. I have put the battery in the center of the car and lowered the servo tray and the engine to get the weight of the car as low as possible. We have a few customers in Vegas but I don't believe they are German ;-)
