Just to clear the air, let's see what everyone thinks. And another thing, in order to have a more true poll, just vote once. I know that there may be more than one you would like to pick, but pick only the one that you feel most strongly about. FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO VOTE, EXPLAIN YOUR VIEWS.

Wow, I'm surprised all the choices weren't "They suck!". Nice job.

I don't think your poll is set up very well, there are more than one choice that I would characterize as my response. The way you have it set up, I can't give all the choices I feel are pertinant to the question.

Seeing as how you do not own any YS engines, and have repeated stated that you wouldn't have one, I am perplexed as to why you felt a poll was needed.

Troll troll troll your boat I think is the correct answer.

Chuck,

I started this poll because every time someone wants to know an opinion on certain kinds of engines, a Y.S. owner ALWAYS has to put their two cents in and states that the person needs to buy Y.S. This person may be asking about O.S., Magnum, Saito, etc... , they never ask anything about Y.S., but a Y.S. owner always has to put their two cents in. You may not realize it, but that person probably knows that Y.S. sells engines, but they're not interested in Y.S. It would be different if The Y.S. owner simply stated "I run Y.S. and love it", or "I wouldn't have that particular brand of engine", like I say. That's never the case. It's ALWAYS "Y.S. is the best and most powerful so go with Y.S." THEY DON'T CARE! They simply want to know about the engine they're inquiring about. You never hear any other people respond by saying that O.S., or Saito, or any other brand for that matter is "best", only Y.S. owners do that.

As for my poll, what other choices do I need to put in or replace? If it's a reasonable choice, I'd be more than glad to put it in the place of one of my own.

Go to my latest reply on the Saito Poll and read it. You will see exactly what I'm talking about when it comes to Y.S. owners butting in. I am very clear on my veiws which are not biased and I never throw a punch at Y.S. That is one of the main reasons I started this poll, to see what everyone else thinks. No I don't own one, my Saito Poll reply pretty much explains why, plus you've read my previous comments which also explain why. I'm not trying to throw mud on Y.S., I just wish like hell that all of the Y.S. owners out there would just stop treating Y.S. like a god. No other brand's users do this. NO ONE ENGINE BRAND IS THE BEST, OR MOST POWERFUL, "they are" only through each persons opinion.

Razor,

I have NEVER seen a Y.S. four stroke that "consistently" ran well. That is the honest-to- God's truth. I've seen many run. I can't say that for their two strokes, I'd take a Y.S. .45 in a heartbeat.

Yeah, I hear ya. Almost like somebody who pops into any converstion about a YS and says, "I wouldn't have one as a gift, they won't run and have to be constantly adjusted". Doesn't matter that lots of people have them and don't have any issues with them, in your microcosm they never run right and have to be constantly adjusted. So might as well jump in at every opportunity and bash them. Well, that dog won't hunt. And I didn't vote in your poll, either.

For the record, I don't go into every post and try to push YS engines, I realize they are not for everybody.

I have a YS 120 FZ, and really like it. I like the power and reliability (even on 15% fuel). I have not bought any more YSs because the range is so small (63, 110, and two dozen 140s (ok I'm exagerating that one, but you ge the point)) and they are not cheap, and are difficult to get in the UK (though that is improving).

Having said that I keep looking for an excuse to get a 110, just have not quite got there yet.

On the other hand I also really like Saitos as well, and they have a big range, are cheaper and are easier to get hold of in the UK (though only recently did the new 40 become available). I recently bought 3 (40, 91, 100). None of the YS range is suitable as alternatives to these IMHO.

As for the way I voted, I went for "the best but cost too much", so that I am not on the fence. Would have preferred the option "one of the best". Basically when thinking of a new engine, these days I rarely get past Saito or YS as a suitable choice.

Chuck,

First off, the only time I ever respond to a Y.S. post is when I see someone having problems. When it comes to my experiences with Y.S. engines, all I've ever seen is them having problems. I don't respond to all posts concerning these engines, but when I do happen across one where someone is having problems, I may leave my opinion. I never said that YOU have ever "promoted" these engines, but there have been tons of posts where others have done this, as if they were getting paid to do so. When I do leave an opinion, I damn sure don't try to promote my favorite brand. I may voice my experiences with my favorite brand, but I don't promote it. Like I said in a previous post, I have NEVER seen a Y.S. four stroke that ran well consistently, thats the truth. You, nor anyone else, should blame me for disliking this engine, nor blame me for voicing my opinion about it. I've read many posts where someone was pretty much throwing mud at another brand, but nobody ever came back offended the way you, and others have. The little Y.S. click always seems to get their feathers ruffled when this happens. Well I got nows for ya Chucky boy, this website is all about opinions and experiences with engines, so you might as well lose the big attitude. I've heard people say everything is "big" in Texas.

Oh yeah, as far as you not voting in the poll, who cares?

I have been in this hobby for a little over a year, and I find tuning a YS 4-stroke no harder than tuning a Saito or an OS 4-stroke. You do have the midrange on a YS to worry about, but that's no big deal. I had a couple of Saito 72's, and I currently have one OS 91 Surpass II and one OS 120 Surpass III, so I have an idea on how tuning those engines compared to tuning a YS. To date, all five of my YS 4-strokes run flawlessly, and I'm not getting paid to say this or to push YS engines.

May I suggest you calm down a bit and let a few others post their views as you yourself suggested.

Well Yard, the fact that you don't own one pretty much eliminates you having any credability in anything you say about YS engines.

If YS makes an engine for the job that I need then I will get it! I've really enjoyed the ones that I have owned. The only 2C engine that I now buy is DA/Brison/BME...

Hobbsy,

I've been in the hobby for four years now. During these four years I've met many people that have had, and still run, these engines. I fly with some of these people several times a week, and see their engines run. I see these people constantly tune on their engines. I've been to many other clubs, talked with the members about these engines, and I've even seen them run their engines. I've had some simply tell me that they run good, but I never saw them run. But, for the ones I have seen run, they are all pretty much the same, inconsistent. Now, as for me not owning one, sure, my credability is crap! As for real-life experiences with seeing them run, and talking to some owners, the reality is there whether you, and others, agree with me or not. Some of these people I'm talking about have been in the hobby since the 60's or earlier. so I'm sure they have plenty credability. It's pretty hard for me to get the nerve up to buy one when I've seen such. When I start "seeing'" some consistency, I'll buy one. Again, as far as having any credibility in anything I say about Y.S., I speak of what I see, and seeing is truly believing.
