The QUOT is a bug in the forum software the inserts the word whenever you type in a quotation mark then run your post through the spell checker...it has nothing to say about the posters intelligence...just that they ran their post through the spell check.

Ladyflyer,

Tell this to Masked Pilot, author of post #36. He, being a seemingly avid pattern flyer, would probably dispute your word. I've never been to any pattern meets, so I wouldn't know what pattern guys fly. By the way MP talks, everyone is moving away from YS, and four strokes in general. I'll let you give me a lesson on pattern and YS if you allow me to give you a lesson on spelling..... It's QUOTE, not QUOT. Geez! Women and thier lectures!

No Pun Intended!

John

And I see you are not familiar with LadyFlyer. You ain't SEEN lectures yet

At least she can tune a YS! Watch your tongue..... You'll get in more trouble talking about LF that you are here dinging YS's. I guess 1 dip flying pattern who cant tune a YS constitutes the whole world. Get a grip!

There is a law (Gaudere's Law I think...) that says anytime you criticize someone on their spelling or grammar on an internet message board, you are destined to make the same mistake in your post. Gaudere has spoken.

Well, I never said that all are moving to 2-strokes; I did say that,
according to my observation at northern California pattern contests,
Y.S. 4-stroke numbers are dropping from near total dominance
(a couple of years ago) in pattern comptition, to
near 50 percent today. It used to be very rare indeed to hear a 2-
stroke at a pattern competition, at least in anything but the beginning
class.
That there are reliability, longevity, and tuning problems with
4-strokes is only half of the equation;
the fact that 2-strokes are getting better is the other
half. For example, If you have not seen the new Mentor
1.70 2-stroke, you can
see what is coming in serious 2-stroke pattern engines:
These engines are
mechanical marvels, and beautiful to boot; AND, the do not cost
$1000.
I fully realize that Y.S. is a formidable competitor. But I also feel
that they have had their day on the top of the mountain.
To say people who have trouble with Y.S. 4-strokes simply lack
experience, or secret knowledge to tune, is wrong. I have seen
people who had huge experience with model engines at major pattern competitions, greatly frustrated by the
Y.S. 4-stroke at hand, unable to solve the problem preventing them
from competing...
I would like it if Y.S. stopped discontuning their larger engines very
year or two, and and fix the problems as they emerge...
I had some very good times with Y.S. 4-strokes. When they ran
good, there was no substitute. When they went south, you were
in trouble. There was seldom any warning. Tuning? Who wants to
spend the flying-day...tuning?
There was no
excuse for some Y.S. previous releases ( the N., the S.C., and the L.;
all now out of production)...
These series drove many to 2-strokes. I had all of these, and stuck it out through the
F.Z. series, then tossed in the towl.
To me, the 1.20 A.C. and the 1.20 F were the best...
I had them all...
I, again, could go on, (I have two previous rants above) but, I stand by my previous comment:
I am now 4-stroke free, and happy as can be...
I am happy for you if you have a Y.S. and no problems. I did not
find that experience...
Masked Pilot...........

Come on ladies and gents-I think it is time to end all this bickering. The reason there are so many different brands out there is because someone buys it, tries it, and likes it. I personally bought my first YS (45) 12 yrs ago and was amazed at the power, reliability, and longevity.
It is still running strong to this day with original gskts & diaphram. I don't use any after-run either on any of my YS engines-just run them out dry.
I have other engines also and all including the YS need a tweek every once in a while.

They are like the Passat that I bought this year. I liked the looks of it and after buying it I truly found out what a great car I bought, just like my YS engines.

You can have my YS's when you pry my cold, dead fingers from them.

Like's been said in the last post, there's no need for fussing.

Some people will not like some brands. That's why there are several different successful brands out there.

It's OK if you don't like a certain engine.

Enjoy,

Jim
